Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Nathan Diaz!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 5 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Troy Jackson!
The judges for this bout are Santiago Holmes, Michael Johnstone and Winston Alpacca.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Jackson drives through and clinches with Diaz against the cage.
Jackson tries a knee to the head but Diaz blocks it.
Diaz has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Jackson is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.
Diaz wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Jackson has him pressed against the cage.

Jackson breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Diaz has been working on his boxing with his coaches at KING OF PAIN in the buildup to the fight.
Jackson throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Jackson steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Diaz.
Jackson looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Diaz lands with a hook. Jackson tried to avoid it but it clipped the top of his head.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Diaz avoids the body shot from Jackson.
Jackson ducks under a wild hook from Diaz.
Jackson is definitely looking for the counter takedowns here.
Diaz throws a looping overhand right but Jackson ducks down to avoid it.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Jackson misses the shot to the body.

Jackson closes the distance and pushes Diaz back into the cage.
The referee calls for Jackson to work.
Jackson goes for a takedown in the clinch but Diaz prevents it.
Diaz wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.
Jackson slows down the pace here.
Diaz is trying to pull guard but Jackson turns him against the cage and we stay in the clinch.

Jackson escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Jackson moves out of range of the strikes.
Jackson throws a shot to the body.
Diaz with a nice cross.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Jackson looks to land a combination but Diaz avoids it well.

Jackson clinches up with Diaz and pushes him back against the cage.
Jackson lands a shot to the body.
Diaz jumps guard but Jackson turns him against the cage and keeps the fight standing.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Nathan Diaz. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Jackson lands a right uppercut that snaps the head of Diaz backwards.
Some stalling of biblical proportions here from Jackson.
Jackson is looking to score with knees to the body. Maybe he'll change it up and go body then head. Diaz is defending well for now.
Jackson stalls.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
A right hook to the body lands for Jackson.

Diaz drags the fight down to the ground.
Jackson wanted to stand there but Diaz had control of the position.
Diaz working a defensive guard here.
Jackson really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Diaz. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Diaz thows some rabbit punches from the bottom but they don't do any damage.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Jackson is trying to tuck his arms in to keep them safe but Diaz has managed to isolate one of them and has got a loose triangle. Jackson is looking to defend but Diaz has done well to lock his legs together - this could be big trouble for Jackson! Diaz pulls down on the head and a little smile comes across his face - he knows he's got it. Yep, Jackson taps out and this one is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:22 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Triangle). Nathan Diaz!
In his post fight interview, Nathan Diaz started talking himself up. Luckily his charisma kept the crowd on side and gave him a good reception.
