Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 3 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Bob Wakosky!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Maxim Malkova!
The judges for this bout are Sandra Marshall, Winston Alpacca and Michael Johnstone.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Wakosky tries to clinch but Malkova is having none of it.
Wakosky takes a shot right to the liver - Bas would have been proud of that punch.
Malkova looks to land a right hand but Wakosky moved out of range.

Wakosky fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Malkova to the ground. Wakosky is now in Malkova's guard.

Wakosky tries to free his leg and advance position but Malkova is retaining full guard.
Malkova keeping moving, preventing Wakosky from controlling successfully.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Wakosky cracks Malkova with a solid left hand.
Wakosky postures up in Malkova's guard and throws a big left but Malkova blocks it.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Malkova is working an open guard so Wakosky takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.
Wakosky shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Malkova as he avoids it easily.
Malkova looked like he wanted to counter with a punch but didn't throw it.

Wakosky has Malkova up against the cage in a clinch.
I was talking to Wakosky's coach per-fight and he was telling me that they'd been working on the clinch in the runup to this fight.
Malkova misses with some punches.
Wakosky jumps guard but Malkova stands there with Wakosky around his waist. Wakosky gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.

That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Bob Wakosky. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Wakosky is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though.
An uppercut on the inside fails to land for Malkova.
Malkova lands on the inside with an uppercut.
Wakosky tries to land a shot to the body but it's blocked.
A frustrated look appears on Wakosky's face as he tries to break the clinch.
Malkova misses with a short punch on the inside.

Wakosky goes for a body shot but it's blocked.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Wakosky is trying to stall.
Malkova looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights.

Wakosky has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Malkova uses from the top position.
Malkova wants to stand but Wakosky has a closed guard, so he can't escape.
Wakosky thows some rabbit punches from the bottom but they don't do any damage.

Wakosky is looking for a triangle but Malkova pushes his legs off easily.

Wakosky is actively looking for submissions from his back. He's worked himself a little space on the bottom and seems to be going for a triangle. No, he's switched into an armbar! That was slick! Malkova rolls with it to try and escape but Wakosky cranks on the arm and Malkova is forced to tap out! This one is aaaaaaaaall over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:49 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Bob Wakosky!
An out of breath Bob Wakosky thanked his loyal fans in his post fight interview, giving them credit for his success over the course of his career.
