Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Peter Hammond (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Alejandro Luis Valdez (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Hammond has a slight injury, which hopefully won't affect the fight too much. I can't wait for this one - let's get the fighter introductions out of the way and get this one started!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Peter Hammond! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Alejandro Luis Valdez! The judges for this bout are Michael Johnstone, David Hoff and Santiago Holmes.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Valdez defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Hammond. Valdez connects with a crisp jab. Hammond tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Valdez paws at him with a jab and circles away. Hammond gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard. Hammond is breathing heavily. Valdez stays in close to Hammond's body and controls the position. Valdez passes into half guard. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Still in half guard, Valdez seems content to control. Let's hope that Valdez has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.
That's one minute gone in the round. We're seeing a lot of stalling here from Valdez. Valdez passes the guard and advances to mount!
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action. Valdez stands up from the dominant position, so we're back on the feet. Valdez drives through with a takedown into Hammond's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position. Valdez is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact. Valdez is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position. Valdez stands up from Hammond's guard - Valdez perhaps looking for a knockout.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Valdez throws a head kick that misses. Hammond fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt. Valdez ducks low and lands a nice hook to the body of his opponent. Valdez drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. The referee tells the fighters to keep busy. Valdez stands up and we're back to a striking position. Valdez shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Hammond's guard. Valdez controls from within his opponent's guard.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Valdez advances position into side control! The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Valdez scores with punches from side control. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Alejandro Luis Valdez dominated that round. The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!
Valdez gets in close and instigates a clinch. Valdez throws a knee to the head but misses.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Valdez is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Hammond defends well. Valdez wants to get back to his feet but Hammond is in a dominant position and won't allow it. Valdez has been the more effective fighter overall so far. Valdez looking to sweep here. No luck so far. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Valdez trying to strike from the bottom but really, it's not the best position to be doing that from! Valdez is pulling down on Hammond's head to control his posture. Valdez is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
That's one minute gone in the round. Valdez winds up and cracks Hammond with a swinging punch to the side of the head. Hammond tries to get to full guard but Valdez has control of the leg. Hammond has hold of Valdez's hands but Valdez slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow. Valdez perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there. Hammond looks like he's trying to stand up.
Hammond is trying to maintain the position but Valdez is very close to passing his half guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round. A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace. Valdez seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense. Valdez is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there. Nice strikes from Valdez there. Valdez with a momentary lay and pray from half guard.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Valdez working over Hammond with some ground and pound. Hammond looks like he wants out of this position, which is understandable. Ground and pound from Valdez. Valdez decides to stand up and try his luck on the feet. Valdez gets the takedown into side control. Valdez decides to stand up, so the ref orders Hammond to his feet. Valdez has managed to clinch.

Valdez gets double underhooks and manages to take the fight to the ground.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Valdez stands up and waves to Hammond to follow him. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Valdez scores with a takedown into Hammond's guard. Valdez is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Alejandro Luis Valdez showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. This is the final round!

Valdez wants the takedown. Hammond is fighting it off but Valdez persists and manages to bring the fight to the ground, ending up in Hammond's guard against the cage. Hammond being controlled here, momentarily. Valdez must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu. Hammond trying to control the position.

Hammond wants to get back to his feet but he's too absorbed in his own little project and Valdez manages to pass to side control. Well, if Valdez is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.

Valdez is continuing to stall. Valdez is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Hammond doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Valdez.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Valdez tries to pass to full mount but Hammond defends it. Valdez tries to stand but his hand is stuck under Hammond. Valdez takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so. Valdez is working hard to pass the guard. He's done it - he's now in full mount! Trouble for Hammond! Valdez looking to control and managing it successfully. Valdez wants to take his opponent's back but Hammond doesn't allow it. Hammond is desperately trying to improve his position but Valdez has a good base and remains in mount. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Valdez looking to control and managing it successfully. Alejandro Luis Valdez has got the better of the ground game so far. Valdez raining down shots from the mount!
And that's the end of the fight! Alejandro Luis Valdez comfortably won the final round on my scorecard. Well Valdez has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
