The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Gommers throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Ford.
Gommers keeps the fight on the outside.
Ford throws a head kick but Gommers moves out of range.
Gommers looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Ford is fending him off so far but Gommers persists. Nope, Ford circles away and we're back to standing.
Gommers shoots in and drives through. Ford sprawls well.
Ford tries to counter by clinching up but Gommers breaks away and moves out of range.

Gommers closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Ford to the mat! Ford manages to get full guard.
Ford pushes Gommers off and scrambles back to his feet.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Ford is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Gommers looking to sit in guard and control but Ford gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
Ford loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.

Ford takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.
Ford throwing shots but Gommers is blocking nicely.
Gommers really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Ford. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
