Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Francisco Potter!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Billy Bob!
The judges for this bout are George Francis, Alan Glass and Daniel Franklin.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

and Potter counters with a single leg into guard. Bob didn't expect that.
Potter scoring with some ground and pound.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Potter accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Potter postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
Potter has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.

Potter wants to stand and escape but Bob is having none of it.

Potter knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Bob on the ground.

Bob looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Potter is trying to maintain the position but Bob is very close to passing his half guard.

Potter manages to create a bit of space in order to work his way back to his feet. Bob keeps hold of his opponent and drives him back against the cage.

Potter breaks the clinch.
Bob looks for a takedown but Potter sprawls well.
As Bob tries to get set, Potter tries to push him back and clinch up but Bob manages to avoid the attempt.
Potter slaps away a takedown attempt from Bob, before circling back to the center of the mat.
Bob just manages to avoid a counter high kick fromPotter.
Francisco Potter has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Billy Bob.

Bob shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.

and Potter counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Potter.

Bob has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Potter lands a right uppercut that snaps the head of Bob backwards.


It looks like Billy Bob has been cut.
Bob is trying to push Potter away but Potter has him pressed against the cage, so he's going nowhere.
Potter has Bob pushed against the cage.

Potter breaks from the clinch.

Bob closes the distance and pushes Potter back into the cage.
Potter has Bob pushed against the cage.
Bob avoiding damage as Potter throws knees to the body.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Potter prevents Bob from breaking the clinch.
Potter slows down the pace here.

Potter fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Bob sprawls well initially but Potter persists and gets the takedown into half guard.

Bob makes some distance and scrambles quickly back to his feet. Nice work!

Bob throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Potter tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Bob is in Potter's guard.

Potter has butterfly guard. He's looking to stand up here. He pushes Bob off him and springs to his feet nicely. The crowd applauds.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
A chopping leg kick lands by Bob.
Bob will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Potter tries to counter by moving into the clinch but Bob manages to circle out of the way.

Bob misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
Bob goes for a spinning back kick but it misses.

Bob moves into range and clinches up with Potter.

Potter breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Potter throws out a token jab with nothing on it.
A nice side step and Bob releases a counter shot to the body, but it doesn't find it's home.
Billy Bob seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Potter stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Potter wants it to stay on the feet.
Francisco Potter has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Billy Bob.

Bob fails with a takedown attempt.
Potter feinted with a counter takedown.
Bob looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.

Potter looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into side control! Oh, that's bad for Bob!

Potter in side control lands a nice looking series of punches and elbows.
Potter working the ground and pound but he's contacting the mat, not the fighter.

Potter is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Bob is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Bob is trying to get back to half guard. He's pushing on Potter's leg. He's managed it. Nice work.
Potter working over Bob with some ground and pound. Bob looks like he wants out of this position, which is understandable.
Potter looks to land a strike but Bob avoids it nicely and regains full guard.

Bob is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Potter is aware though and is defending well.
Hammerfist, elbow! yells Potter's corner. There ya go! There ya go!
Potter postures up in Bob's guard and throws a big left but Bob blocks it.

Bob had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Potter defends it easily.
Potter is working Bob over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close second round but I would say that Francisco Potter will probably get the nod.
The cut man is working on Billy Bob's cut.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! This is the final round!


Potter changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Bob tries to avoid it but Potter manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Bob to the ground. Bob escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Potter throws a sloppy head kick and Bob moves out of range easily.
Potter thuds his right hand into Bob's forehead from close range. That could be painful for both fighters.

and Potter moves into the clinch.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Potter lands a nice elbow from the clinch.

Bob jumps into guard, dragging Potter to the mat.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Bob looks to be working for a triangle here. Oh, it looks like he might have it! Potter has picked Bob up and slammed him! Bob can't keep hold of the triangle and Potter manages to pass to side control!

Bob is looking for a sweep. Potter is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

Potter has scooted to the edge of the canvas and used the cage to get back to his feet. Bob has stuck on his opponent and is forcing him back against the cage.

Francisco Potter overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Bob tries to pass the half guard into mount. Potter knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Bob shoots in but no luck this time.

and Bob counters with a series of strikes. Potter will be more careful next time no doubt.
