1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Misha Chachkhunashvili! The judges for this bout are William Peck, Steve Smith and Trevor Gratis.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Chachkhunashvili misses with a double jab
so McComiskey counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility. McComiskey stops Chachkhunashvili from standing up. Chachkhunashvili is using up a lot of energy trying to get back to his feet. Perhaps he should improve his position first. McComiskey is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long. McComiskey loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. McComiskey is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions. We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Chachkhunashvili can do anything to dispel that myth. Chachkhunashvili wants to get back to his feet but McComiskey passes into half guard.

McComiskey has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. McComiskey controlling the action here. McComiskey shoots in looking for a takedown but Chachkhunashvili manages to keep the fight standing, pushing McComiskey's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away. McComiskey takes a hook to the side of the head. I wonder if that's got his ears ringing.
McComiskey swings and misses with a shot to the body enabling Chachkhunashvili to counter with a crisp jab. Chachkhunashvili lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
Chachkhunashvili leaves McComiskey with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt. McComiskey thinks about countering with a body kick. McComiskey moves away from the strike by Chachkhunashvili. Chachkhunashvili throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
McComiskey looked to counter that last move with a leg kick but didn't pull the trigger. McComiskey tries to clinch but fails miserably and Chachkhunashvili counters with a straight right hand. Chachkhunashvili throws a nice looking combination but McComiskey bobs and weaves to avoid any damage. McComiskey displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Chachkhunashvili throws out the jab. Chachkhunashvili throws out a token jab with nothing on it. Chachkhunashvili defends well against a solid takedown attempt from McComiskey. McComiskey avoids a lazy jab quite easily. Chachkhunashvili has used his reach advantage pretty well so far tonight. McComiskey bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes. McComiskey takes a jab on the nose. He smiles like he loves it and keeps coming. Chachkhunashvili throws a looping overhand right but McComiskey ducks down to avoid it. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Chachkhunashvili moves into range and connects with a jab. Chachkhunashvili is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two. Chachkhunashvili fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
McComiskey misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Horrible takedown attempt by McComiskey or perhaps it was just good defense by Chachkhunashvili, which made it look bad. Chachkhunashvili lands a really nice looking cross but McComiskey seems unphased.
Misha Chachkhunashvili seems to be getting the better of the standup. McComiskey tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Chachkhunashvili paws at him with a jab and circles away. Chachkhunashvili fakes high and swings low for a body shot but McComiskey manages to avoid it. Chachkhunashvili might want to mix his strikes up a bit more. He's just going for head shots at the moment and that can become a bit predictable. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. McComiskey clinches with his opponent.

McComiskey takes a jab on the nose there. A little bit of blood seems to be coming out. Hopefully that won't affect his breathing.

McComiskey closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! McComiskey controls the position. McComiskey is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Chachkhunashvili is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now. Chachkhunashvili wants to escape from the position here - easier said than done! McComiskey decides to stand back up. McComiskey steps back and let's Chachkhunashvili get back to his feet. Misha Chachkhunashvili showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. This is the final round!
