Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Hilton Walters! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Lance Harley! The judges for this bout are Hirohito Nitta, Shigeki Sano and Kenichi Hosakawa.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Harley closes the distance and pushes Walters back into the cage. Walters is fighting off a takedown attempt but Harley is just too persistent for him and manages to trip Walters to the mat. Walters regains guard as soon as the fighters hit the mat. Harley postures up.
Harley trying to control the position from guard on top but Walters is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Walters is trying to keep Harley in close.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Harley content to stall in guard here. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Hammerfist, elbow! yells Harley's corner. There ya go! There ya go! Walters punching from the bottom.
That's one minute gone in the round. Harley drops back looking for a leg! Walters is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Walters manages to kick Harley off! Harley jumps back into Walters's guard. Walters really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape. Walters trying to keep a closed guard but Harley is proving a slippery customer.
Walters looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
Walters knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Harley on the ground. Harley throwing strikes from guard but Walters blocks nicely. Walters wants to get back to his feet but Harley is in a dominant position and won't allow it.
The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so. Walters swats away the attempt to clinch by Harley. Walters is looking for a counter combo. Harley shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Walters tries to kick Harley off in order to stand up. Harley Avoids the leg push though and dives into side control. Harley is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Walters has escaped the position, nice work there. Walters takes a couple of big shots there - the referee warns him that he has to defend himself better.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Harley tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Harley has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought! Walters is not content to let Harley control the position. Harley works to advance to full mount. Walters defends for a few seconds but eventually he succumbs. Harley is going oldschool here, as he tries to force Walters to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so Walters shrugs it off. Harley quickly switches position and commits to an armbar! It's a big risk for Harley but it's paid off an Walters is forced to tap! Nice work by Harley.
