Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Andy James!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Hector Cruz!
The judges for this bout are Sandra Marshall, Michael Johnstone and Peter Branson.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Cruz will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.

Cruz has managed to clinch.
James tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.

James breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.

Cruz scores with a takedown into James's guard.
James lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as James accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

James looking to sit in guard and control but Cruz gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.


That's one minute gone in the round.
Cruz throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as James works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
James lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard.

James throws an elbow that misses. Cruz uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in James's guard. Nice move by Cruz!

James preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.
James looking to control the pace of the fight rather than finish it.
James has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
James wants to sweep but no luck.

James kicks Cruz off and gets to his feet.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

James gets a clinch.

Cruz breaks from the clinch.

Cruz lands a left and a right that send James crashing to the mat, dazed. Cruz thinks about following him to the mat but decides to wave him back up to his feet!


It looks like Andy James has been cut.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Cruz throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Hector Cruz seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
James circles away from the clinch attempt.
Cruz tries to bum rush James with a series of wild strikes but James uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Cruz misses with a looping right.
A combination from Cruz does no damage.
James tries to counter with a takedown but Cruz is quick to defend against it.

James moves into the clinch.
James stalling in the clinch but Cruz improves position.

James escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Ohhhhhhhhhh, brutal head kick from Cruz! This one is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:48 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Head Kick). Hector Cruz!
