PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Gino Carano (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Yoshi Sushi (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Rumors backstage are that the fighters have been paid to keep it standing but we know that would never happen in MMA!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Carano throws a looping overhand right but Sushi ducks down to avoid it.
Jab by Carano.

It looks like Yoshi Sushi has been cut.
Carano waving his hands out infront of him, looking to distract Sushi.
Carano lands with a right hand.
Carano is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Sushi.
Carano scores with a jab to the head.
Sushi looking to throw a kick but he's pulled out of it.
Sushi uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Carano.
A punch lands to the side of Sushi 's head but he takes it in his stride.
Good leg kick by Sushi there. It's the ones that make that thud noise that hurt and that was an almighty thud.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Carano throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Sushi sees it coming and avoids it easily.

Sushi clinches.
Carano is trying to break free.
Sushi's corner are urging him to control the action in the clinch for a moment, rather than mount any serious offense. I'm sure the crowd appreciate those instructions... not.

Sushi decides to pull guard.
Carano preventing the sweep.
Carano is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact.

Sushi escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Carano gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Sushi is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Carano drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Carano jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
Sushi is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Sushi is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Carano doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Sushi.
Carano pushes Sushi off looking to stand but Sushi dives back in and keeps control.

Sushi is looking for a kimura here.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Sushi is trying to work for a kimura. He's got his hands clasped together - this could be trouble! No, Carano has managed to free his arm - good work.
Sushi stops Carano from getting back to his feet.
Carano is breathing heavily.
Sushi is working hard to pass the guard. He's done it - he's now in full mount! Trouble for Carano!
Sushi takes Carano's back.

Sushi is working for a rear naked choke. Carano is not defending it well and Sushi has tightened it up quickly! This could be all over! Carano refuses to tap and goes to sleep, forcing the referee to intervene. A little trickle of blood came out of Carano's nose as his head slumped to the floor. That is naaaasty!
