The judges for this bout are Jorge Garcia, Reed Andrews and Eddie Farnsworth.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Lizotte avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Araujo takes a shot right to the liver - Bas would have been proud of that punch.
Araujo misses with a telegraphed body shot
and Lizotte counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.

Lizotte lands a nice hook to Araujo's body. Araujo takes it in his stride and looks to land his own strikes.

Araujo manages to break the clinch.

Araujo tries to throw a body punch but Lizotte avoids it by throwing Araujo back against the cage.
Araujo goes for a body shot but it's blocked.

Araujo breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Lizotte does a little shimmy and throws a leg kick. The leg kick missed by a considerable margin though, making him look a little bit silly for doing the shimmy.
Araujo swung with a counter punch to the body but it didn't connect.
Stephan Lizotte seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Lizotte connects with a single shot there.
Lizotte with a nice cross.

Araujo tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Lizotte manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Lizotte lands a slapping body shot.
Lizotte swings wildly with a hook that is half blocked by Araujo.
Lizotte lands a really nice looking cross but Araujo seems unphased.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Boom, another hit is landed. "You're gunna get knocked out" taunts Lizotte, as that shot connected.
Araujo checks a low kick from Lizotte.
Araujo appears to be looking for a counter punch to the body.
Nice cross by Lizotte.
Araujo tries to close the distance and clinch up but Lizotte swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Araujo throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Lizotte tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Araujo is in Lizotte's guard.
Araujo is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
Araujo advances position into side control!
That's three minutes gone in the round.
Araujo has hold of Lizotte's arm here. He's working for an Americana. It looks like he might have it! Lizotte tries to escape but he's just digging himself in deeper - Araujo cranks the arm and Lizotte screams in pain! The ref makes a decision and ends the fight before the tap - no complains from Lizotte, who is just happy to have his arm attached to his body.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:31 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Americana). Joao Araujo!
