Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Jon Jones (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Chuck Burnzie (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Jon Jones!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Chuck Burnzie!
The judges for this bout are Bruno Hogan, Damien Edna and Eliza Hachem.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A combination from Jones does no damage.
Burnzie shoots in but no luck this time.
Burnzie shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Jones as he avoids it easily.
Burnzie fails with the takedown.
Jon Jones has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Chuck Burnzie.
Jones shoots in but Burnzie avoids the takedown attempt easily.

Jones looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into mount! Oh, that's bad for Burnzie!

Jones is working on an americana here. Ooh, that looks pretty nasty! Nope, Burnzie has managed to escape the submission attempt.
Burnzie is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Burnzie can do anything to dispel that myth.

Jones is working for a guillotine from mount but Burnzie frees his head quite easily.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Jones is in the full mount, landing strikes.
Jones breaks from Burnzie's wrist control and lands an elbow.
Burnzie tries to reverse the position but Jones maintains control.
Burnzie tries to lock up and control but Jones gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.
Burnzie can't escape the position.
Burnzie wants to hold on but Jones pushes him away.
Burnzie can't escape the position.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Jones looking to control but Burnzie is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.

Jones is looking to secure an arm. He's managed it! He's pivoting for an armbar - that looks tight! But Burnzie has managed to get out of it and now he's in a dominant position. Nice work from Burnzie!
Jones is breathing heavily.
Burnzie working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.
Jones wants to sweep but no luck.
Jones manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!
Jones trying to control but Burnzie is having none of it.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Burnzie wants to hold on but Jones pushes him away.
Burnzie throwing hammer fists to the chest of Jones. What's that going to do exactly?
Jones tries to control but Burnzie wriggling away.

Jones has control of Burnzie's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Burnzie regains control of the situation pretty easily.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Jones jumps to the side looking to secure the arm triangle…. Ooooh, that looks tight… Burnzie is gargling but he's managed to escape! Nice work there by Burnzie and Jones has given up the dominant position trying to land that submission.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's time! Jones's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.


Burnzie is looking to clinch but Jones is avoiding it.

Burnzie closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
Burnzie tries to pass the half guard into mount. Jones knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.
Burnzie really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Jones. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Jones has one foot on Burnzie's thigh - he pushes off and manages to get back to his feet.

Burnzie is trying to stand back up but Jones is controlling him
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Jones seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Burnzie does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

Burnzie desperately trying to maintain half guard.
Jones is taking a breather. Burnzie says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.
Burnzie tries to get to full guard but Jones has control of the leg.

Jones is trying to control the action in half guard but Burnzie is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Burnzie doesn't succeed with the takedown

and Jones holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.
Burnzie wants to break free but Jones has control.

Jones breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Burnzie doesn't manage to clinch there - Jones circles away.
Burnzie attempts a low kick but it misses it's target.
Burnzie throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Jones swats away the attempt to clinch by Burnzie.
Burnzie misses with a takedown attempt - Jones sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.

Burnzie has managed to clinch.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Jones gets control of Burnzie's arms and successfully pulls guard. Jones will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back.
Jones trying to keep a closed guard but Burnzie is proving a slippery customer.
Burnzie showing good wrestling skills to control the position.
Burnzie pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Jones is keeping the position for now.
Burnzie trying to stand up but can't free himself from Jones's guard.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Jones looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
Burnzie wants to control from the top but Jones keeps moving.
Jones is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Burnzie trying to control but Jones is working from the bottom.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
A nice combination there by Burnzie.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close second round but I would say that Jon Jones will probably get the nod.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. Ladies and gentlemen, this is the final round!

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Burnzie sitting in guard, not really doing much.
Burnzie wants to get up but he can't break Jones's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.

Jones has his hands on Burnzie's head, controlling the position.
Burnzie stands up over Jones, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.
Burnzie is looking to advance position but Jones has hit a scissor sweep - now he's on top in mount!

Burnzie tries to hold on but Jones pushes him away.
Jones tries to control but Burnzie wriggling away.
Burnzie is desperately trying to improve his position but Jones has a good base and remains in mount.

Jones goes for an armbar but he's not got it… Burnzie turns into him and now he's in Jones's guard.
Burnzie controls the pace of the fight for a moment.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Burnzie has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Jones is proving hard to escape from.

Jones working for a triangle but Burnzie defends it easily.
Jones trying to keep a closed guard but Burnzie is proving a slippery customer.

And that's the end of the fight!
That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Jon Jones.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Jones, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
