PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Takumi Takeshi (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Fiji Nakamura (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Takeshi's entrance music is Japanese Player. A fine choice. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Takumi Takeshi!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Fiji Nakamura!
The judges for this bout are Yukihiro Shimada, Yukihiro Yamamoto and Hirohito Nitta.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Nakamura throws the left hand but Takeshi avoids the punch easily.
Nakamura pushing out the jab but it's not landing.
Nakamura lands with a hook. Takeshi tried to avoid it but it clipped the top of his head.
Nakamura misses with a body punch
and Takeshi counters with a nice uppercut.
Nakamura throws a jab when Takeshi was well out of range.
Takeshi cracks Nakamura with a right hand to the side of the head.
Nakamura swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Nakamura tests Takeshi's chin there with a solid looking shot.
Fiji Nakamura seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Nakamura connects with a leg kick. He turned his hip over nicely there.
Nakamura throws a body kick despite being completely out of range
and Takeshi counters with a shot to the ribs. That looked like it hurt.
Nakamura throws a jab when Takeshi was well out of range.
Takeshi takes a thudding leg kick, right into the meat of the thigh.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Nakamura throws a hook but Takeshi blocks it.
Nakamura fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Takeshi manages to avoid it.
Takeshi was looking to counter that last move with a shot to the body but he didn't commit.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Takeshi keeping his hands up high there, blocking the jab from Nakamura.
Takeshi digs a good hook to Nakamura's body.
Nakamura walks into a jab.
Nakamura attempts a low kick but it misses it's target.
Nakamura throws a looping overhand right but Takeshi ducks down to avoid it.
Takeshi lands a straight punch to the body, keeping Nakamura at a distance.
Nakamura thows a left - swing and a miss!
It looked like Takeshi wanted to counter with a hook but didn't fully commit.
Nakamura tries to score with an inside leg kick but telegraphs it and Takeshi is able to avoid easily.
Nakamura throws a looping overhand right but Takeshi ducks down to avoid it.
Nakamura takes an uppercut right on the button but keeps his composure.
Nakamura misses with a body shot
and Takeshi counters with a series of strikes. Nakamura will be more careful next time no doubt.
Takeshi steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Nakamura.
Takeshi lunges in with an uppercut that skims his opponent's chin.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Nakamura throws a front kick aimed at Takeshi's knee but Takeshi avoids it well.
Nakamura throws a body kick that misses
and Takeshi counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.


Nakamura is rocked!
We can't be sure of the tactics at this early stage but we have heard that Nakamura has been working on his takedowns a lot in the buildup to the fight and we can only assume he's going to look to take this to the mat.
Takeshi is throwing a storm of strikes! Right hook, left hook and follows it up with a spinning back fist! Nakamura hits the canvas like a rag doll! And just like that, this one is over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:15 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Strikes). Takumi Takeshi!
