Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Han Groo (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Andy James (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Andy James is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Han Groo!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Andy James!
The judges for this bout are Bart Greer, Dirk Anderson and Daniel Franklin.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
James shoots in and drives through. Groo sprawls well.
James tries to close the distance and clinch up but Groo swats him away and circles back towards the center.

James scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground.
Groo tries to kick James off in order to stand up. James Avoids the leg push though and dives into side control.
Groo is trying to improve his position.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
James creates some space and throws a big elbow, but Groo sees it coming and moves his head just enough to avoid the strike.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

James is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Groo knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.
Groo wants to get back to his feet but James drags him back down.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

That's one minute gone in the round.
The referee tells the fighters to keep busy.
James postures up a little and throws a couple of hammerfists but they don't connect properly.
Groo sneaks back into half guard.
Groo knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for James on the ground.
Groo tries to roll over but James keeps him under control.

Groo looking to work for a kimura from the bottom.
Groo is trying to control but can't.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
James moves nicely into side control.

James stands up and we're back to a striking position.
James shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Groo pinned against the cage. Groo gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
James shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Groo but Groo pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Han Groo has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Andy James.
James leaves Groo with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

James forces Groo back against the cage and clinches.

Groo breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Groo swats away the attempt to clinch by James.
Groo shoots for a takedown but James saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
James drops down looking to force a counter takedown but Groo defends it well.
James shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Groo sprawls well. Groo wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. James gets slowly back to his feet.

and James counters by moving into the clinch.
James wants to stall.

Groo manages to break the clinch.

That's four minutes gone in the round.

James rushes Groo and presses him up against the cage.
James has Groo pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Groo manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing.
James tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Groo smiles and moves away.

James tries to keep at a distance but Groo has taken the fight into the clinch.
Groo really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Groo stops a takedown attempt from James.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
James tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Groo just stands there and leans against the cage.
Groo landing knees to the body. They look like they could hurt.

Groo breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Andy James will probably get the nod.
Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin!

Groo went nuts there looking for a big combo counter but none of the flurry connected.
James is breathing heavily.

James drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.

Groo throws his opponent off and manages to get back to his feet! Nicely done!
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Groo connects with a high kick.
James throws a head kick that misses.
Groo appears to be looking for a counter takedown.

Groo fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. James sprawls well initially but Groo persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
Well, if Groo is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.
James is trying to control but can't.

James looks like he's trying to stand up.
Groo prevents James from improving his position.
Groo controlling the pace.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.
Groo tries to clinch but James is having none of it.
Groo closes the distance and clinches up with James, looking for a takedown. Groo pushes James against the cage but James circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
James throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.

The cut man is working on Andy James's cut.

Nice takedown defense from James. No joy for Groo on that attempt.
James throws a leg kick but Groo sees it coming and moves out of range.
James dives in and grabs Groo's left leg, looking for a takedown. Groo pushes down on James's head and hops out.

James is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though.

Groo decides to pull guard.
James sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Groo's guard.

James is looking to take a break and control but Groo is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Groo controlling the position well.
James prevents Groo from improving his position.
James is trying to control the action in half guard but Groo is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.
James wants to lay and pray for a moment but Groo keeps working.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.
Groo tries to close the distance and clinch up but James swats him away and circles back towards the center.

James throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Groo tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. James is in Groo's guard.
James wants to pass the guard but Groo is keeping the position.

Groo has scooted to the edge of the canvas and used the cage to get back to his feet. James has stuck on his opponent and is forcing him back against the cage.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Groo looking to throw knees to the head but James is blocking nicely.

Groo drags the fight down to the ground.
James wants to pass the guard but Groo is keeping the position.
James controls from within his opponent's guard.
James wants to control from the top but Groo keeps moving.

James thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.

James stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Groo swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Groo controlling the position.
If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.
James connects with a couple of short punches.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
James throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Groo.
Groo will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Groo tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. James manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.

And that's the end of the fight!
That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Han Groo.
Well Groo has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
