PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Tom Odonnell (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jeremy Reeb (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters will be looking to make this an exciting fight for the fans, I'm sure!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 3 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Tom Odonnell!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Jeremy Reeb!
The judges for this bout are Sergei Dronov, Viktor Lagutenko and Vladimir Khabensky.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Odonnell takes an uppercut right on the button but keeps his composure.
Reeb loads up on a big right hand but Odonnell slips the punch.

Reeb decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
Reeb is figuring out what he wants to do next.
Odonnell wants to get back to full guard but Reeb has passed into side control.
Odonnell really is a fat lump.
Both fighters take a look at the clock.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
You can see the frustration on Odonnell's face as Reeb controls the position.

Reeb tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Reeb has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
Odonnell is looking for a sweep.

Reeb decides to stand up, so the ref orders Odonnell to his feet.

Reeb instigates a clinch.
Odonnell tries a knee to the head but he's missed.

Reeb has Odonnell pressed up against the cage. He's trying to work for a single leg takedown. Reeb pulls back from the cage and twists to the side, sending Odonnell tumbling to the mat - Reeb dives into Odonnell's guard.

Reeb sitting in guard, not really doing much.
Odonnell might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Odonnell trying to keep a closed guard but Reeb is proving a slippery customer.

Reeb is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Jeremy Reeb seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Reeb manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Odonnell on his heels. He'll look to pass Odonnell's guard now, I'm sure.
Reeb tries to free his leg and advance position but Odonnell is retaining full guard.
Reeb controls the pace of the fight for a moment.
Odonnell bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Reeb's guard.

Our spies down at at Cozad MMA St Petersburg inform us that Reeb has really been working on his submissions in the buildup to this fight. Will it pay off?
Odonnell tries to stand but Reeb is controlling from the bottom.

Odonnell postures up.
Odonnell stopping the sweep attempt from Reeb.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Reeb looks winded!
Hammerfist, elbow! yells Odonnell's corner. There ya go! There ya go!

Reeb wants to sweep but no luck.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Odonnell throws a big right hand that misses.
Odonnell is looking to work some ground and pound but Reeb has wrist control.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's time! Odonnell's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.


Odonnell is looking to take this fight into the clinch.

Odonnell gets caught napping as Reeb dives in and scores a takedown. Odonnell manages to retain guard.
Reeb is stalling in the full guard.
Reeb tries to free his leg and advance position but Odonnell is retaining full guard.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Odonnell wants to sweep here but Reeb controlling him for the moment.
Odonnell is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Odonnell seems to have lost interest with the ground game and is thinking about standing back up.

Reeb wants to control but Odonnell is keeping busy and won't allow it.
Reeb keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound.
Odonnell not throwing his punches with enough precision this time.

Reeb moves into full guard.
Odonnell tries to stand but Reeb is controlling from the bottom.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Odonnell throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.
Odonnell postures up.
Reeb is breathing heavily.
Reeb is in a good position here but he's just trying to control... And he's not even managing to do that successfully.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.

Reeb shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Odonnell napping and manages to drive through into side control!
Odonnell is trying to improve his position.
Reeb looking to control but instead Odonnell has slipped a leg in, to regain half guard.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Reeb is just content to waste time from the top position. Odonnell takes advantage of the situation and regains full guard.
Reeb advances to half guard.
Reeb trying to control the action but Odonnell is working from the bottom.
Reeb with a momentary lay and pray from half guard.

Reeb is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.
Odonnell is trying to get back to full guard.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Reeb has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Odonnell is looking for a sweep. Reeb is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close second round but Jeremy Reeb will probably get the nod - 10:9.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! And we move into the final round!



Reeb clinches with his opponent.
Odonnell throws a punch but it's blocked by Reeb.

Reeb turns his back and goes for a hip toss. It's a bit messy but it gets the job done and Reeb manages to end up in side control.
Odonnell tries to get back to half guard but can't.
Odonnell seems a little lost for a moment, as Reeb dominates the positioning.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Reeb is in a dominant position here, looking for a kimura. Odonnell looks calm but he's in trouble here. Reeb gets his leg over his opponent's head and yanks on the arm. Odonnell is tapping like a morse code operator on the titanic! SOS! SOS! Reeb lets go of the hold and Odonnell can pop his arm back in it's socket.
