Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of

4 - 4 - 0, fighting out of New York, Ronald Griffin! The judges for this bout are Columbo Gatti, David Schapiro and Dean Styles.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! This fight brought to you by 5M nutrition - it's mmmmm tasty. Nice jab by Freire. Good standup being displayed there by Freire as he connects with a hook. Griffin misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out. Griffin on the wrong end of a vicious looking body shot. Griffin has been spending a lot of time sparring his boxing in the run up to the fight, trying to sharpen up those hands and look for a knockout. Freire paws at his opponent with the jab and then lunges in with a straight, right on the button. Freire connects with a nice looking jab.
Griffin uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Freire.
Freire throws the left hand but Griffin avoids the punch easily. Griffin takes a body punch that cleary hurt but he's trying not to show any weakness. Freire throws an overhand right that lands on Griffin's shoulder, as Griffin tries to avoid the shot. Nice uppercut there from Freire. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Griffin fails with the takedown and Freire makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range.
That's one minute gone in the round. Freire missing with a left hand there. Griffin was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one. A telegraphed takedown attempt from Griffin is defended easily by Freire. Patricio Freire has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Ronald Griffin. Freire lands a pitter patter jab to the forehead of his opponent. Freire throws out a loose jab but Griffin uses good head movement to avoid it. Griffin tries a counter takedown but it's more of a dummy move, and he uses it to push himself away. Freire stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Freire wants it to stay on the feet. Freire with a body punch. A glancing blow. Patricio Freire is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Griffin. Freire tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Griffin was well out of range. Poor timing from Freire.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Freire misses with a right hand and Griffin counters with a shoot takedown into half guard. Freire is trying to get back to full guard. Griffin is scoring with some nice ground and pound from the dominant position. Griffin working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Freire is trying to stand.
Both fighters have adopted an aggressive gameplan on the ground! Freire gets full guard. Griffin working some strikes from top position. Griffin advances position into side control! Griffin remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while. Freire is trying to get back to half guard.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Griffin working the ground and pound from side control. Freire manages to land a sweep and he's now on top! Lovely Jiu Jitsu! Griffin wants to get back to full guard. Freire looking for a submission but Griffin manages to get full guard, putting an end to that submission attempt.
Griffin looking to control the pace of the fight rather than finish it. Griffin is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent. Griffin escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Freire gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Freire thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position. Freire postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Griffin is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Freire, into his guard.
Griffin has a momentary lapse of concentration, allowing Freire to throw up a leg and lock on what appears to be a pretty tight triangle! Griffin is fighting it off but it's all too little too late - Freire pulls down on the head and he's put Griffin to sleep! This one is all over!
