Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
9 - 6 - 0, fighting out of London, Joe Dirt! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
7 - 3 - 0, fighting out of London, Adam Newbold! The judges for this bout are Donald Grub, James Glass and Sam Margolis.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Dirt throws a leg kick that misses. Newbold is definitely looking for the counter takedowns here. Newbold shoots in and gets a takedown into Dirt's guard. Dirt looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
Newbold makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard. Newbold lands a couple of digs. Dirt looking for a guillotine here but Newbold defends easily.
Newbold is working Dirt over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes. Newbold told us pre-fight that he has been working on his escapes in training. Let's see if he can call on some of his new skills to get back to his feet. Dirt keeping moving, preventing Newbold from controlling successfully. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Dirt is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Newbold defends well. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Dirt looking for a guillotine here but Newbold defends easily.
That's one minute gone in the round. Newbold lands a couple of digs. Newbold stays in close to Dirt's body and controls the position. Newbold is trying to tuck his arms in to keep them safe but Dirt has managed to isolate one of them and has got a loose triangle. Newbold is looking to defend but Dirt has done well to lock his legs together - this could be big trouble for Newbold! Dirt pulls down on the head and a little smile comes across his face - he knows he's got it. Yep, Newbold taps out and this one is all over!
