Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Tony Bullard (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jon Askren (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Bullard might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to Wrecking Ball. This should be a great matchup!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the welterweight championship of the world! Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
29 - 6 - 0, fighting out of London, Tony Bullard! And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
20 - 3 - 0, fighting out of London, Jon Askren! The judges for this bout are James Glass, James Ackerman and Colin Fotheringham.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Askren throws a body shot but no joy. Jon Askren seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Bullard ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face. We can't be sure of the tactics at this early stage but we have heard that Askren has been working on his takedowns a lot in the buildup to the fight and we can only assume he's going to look to take this to the mat. Bullard tries to bum rush Askren with a series of wild strikes but Askren uses good footwork to avoid the assault. Askren looked like he wanted to counter with a punch but didn't throw it. Bullard throws a body shot but no joy. A nice side step and Askren releases a counter shot to the body, but it doesn't find it's home. Askren dives in for a single leg takedown but Bullard sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage. Askren lands the left hand. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Askren avoids the body shot from Bullard.

Askren connects with a body shot that sends Bullard's belly button to the back. Bullard throws the left hand but Askren avoids the punch easily. Askren drops down looking to force a counter takedown but Bullard defends it well. Askren shoots in for a takedown but Bullard shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet. Askren misses with a looping left. Askren shoots for a double leg takedown but Bullard sprawls well. He's pushed Askren's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Bullard tries to clinch but Askren is having none of it. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Askren looks to score with a combo but nothing lands. Bullard is looking to counter punch. Bullard gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard. Askren prevents Bullard from getting back to his feet. Askren trying to control but Bullard is working from the bottom. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Bullard working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Askren. Askren pushes down on Bullard's leg and manages to get into half guard. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Askren throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man. Bullard blocking the ground and pound attempt from Askren. Askren working the head and body with strikes. Bullard has one foot on Askren's thigh - he pushes off and manages to get back to his feet.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Bullard uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Askren. It looked like Bullard wanted to counter with a hook but didn't fully commit. Askren's corner calls for a 1-2. Askren obliges with the 1 part as he scores the single shot and moves back out of range. Askren lands with a good body shot. Askren takes a swing at Bullard's ribcage but misses. Bullard swung with a counter right hand that didn't connect. Askren uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Bullard. Bullard has his head snapped back a nice jab. A little nod from Bullard there as he acknowledges the shot. Bullard throws a lazy right hand but Askren sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily. Askren misses with a jab to the body

The fighters circling - Askren throws out the jab but it was never going to land. Askren throws a body punch but Bullard moves out of range. Bullard on the wrong end of a vicious looking body shot. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Jon Askren showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.

Bullard seemed to be looking to counter by closing the distance. Askren doesn't succeed with the takedown and Bullard counters with a quick right hand to the jaw. Askren swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.

An out of breath Tony Bullard thanked his loyal fans in his post fight interview, giving them credit for his success over the course of his career. Jon Askren was interviewed post fight and said 'I'll be back stronger!'.
