PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Gorge Jurgel (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jaromir Jag (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Jurgel comes to the cage accompanied by Rock N Roll Train. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 49 - 55 - 1, fighting out of Los Angeles, Gorge Jurgel!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 35 - 75 - 2, fighting out of Los Angeles, Jaromir Jag!
The judges for this bout are , Jack Bonds and Timothy Bukovac.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Jurgel blocks a head kick by Jag.
Jag throws a head kick that misses.
Jurgel half committed to a counter leg kick.

Jag instigates a clinch.
Jurgel tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Jag just stands there and leans against the cage.
Jurgel tried to land a shot to the body but connects with Jag's elbow.
Jurgel jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Jag walks away with a smile on his face. Jurgel gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.

Jag fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Jurgel, pushing him back against the cage.
Jurgel tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Gorge Jurgel. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Jurgel tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Jag smiles and moves away.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Jag instigates a clinch.

Jurgel jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Jag walks away with a smile on his face. Jurgel gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.

Jag closes the distance and pushes Jurgel back into the cage.
Jurgel misses with a hook to the ribs.

Jag breaks the clinch.
Jag moves into range and lands a nice body kick.

Jurgel gets tackled into the cage by Jag. Jag maintains the clinch.

Jurgel jumps into guard, dragging Jag to the mat.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
Jag is fighting to break Jurgel's control of his arms but Jurgel is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.
Jurgel has a closed guard, preventing Jag from standing up.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Jurgel pulls Jag in close to prevent any damage.

Jurgel continues to stall.
My spies in Rape Academy (7 elite, 6 2x elite) inform me that Jag has been getting involved in the gym's BJJ sparring sessions. Let's see whether that pays dividends!

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.

Jurgel wants to take the fight to the mat but Jag manages to get underhooks and keep the fight in the clinch.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Jag is defending well against a takedown attempt.
Jag is trying to break the clinch but Jurgel has him pressed against the cage.
Jurgel is trying to pull guard but being pressed up against the cage enables Jag to keep the fight standing.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.


Jurgel shoots in looking for a takedown. Jag tries to sprawl out of it but Jurgel keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Jag manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.

Jurgel goes for a double leg but Jag avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Jag continues to drive forward.

Well Jag has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
