Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Matt Crisp (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Prince Melo Gapuz (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The key to victory for Matt Crisp has got to be keeping the fight on the feet.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Matt Crisp!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Prince Melo Gapuz!
The judges for this bout are Eliza Hachem, Winston Howard and John Mangel.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Gapuz shoots in and bounces Crisp off the ropes to secure the takedown into guard.
Crisp looks exhausted already! Oh dear, he should have come in in better shape than this!

so Gapuz counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
Gapuz stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Crisp swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Crisp utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
Gapuz is pushing down on Crisp's leg trying to pass to half guard. Crisp is fighting to maintain full guard but Gapuz has managed to sneak the leg through.

The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Gapuz connects with a nice short shot to Crisp's temple.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.



Gapuz drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.

Crisp had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. Gapuz is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. Crisp Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take Gapuz's back instead.
Gapuz has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Crisp is trying to stick to Gapuz's back but Gapuz is turning into Crisp. He's managed to reverse the position - now he's in Crisp's guard. Polite applause from the crowd in appreciation of some nice Jiu Jitsu by Gapuz.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Gapuz seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime.

Gapuz looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Crisp with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.
