Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Merrill Kane! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Black Madman! The judges for this bout are Paul Aken, Aafke Stam and Nard Betker.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Madman throws a leg kick and Kane counters with a takedown into side control! That could mean trouble for Madman! Madman looks to move to half guard but instead Kane has passed into mount! Damn! Kane stands up from mount. Strange move. Madman misses with a takedown and Kane counters with a nice double leg into side control. Madman won't be happy with that. Madman tries to get back to his feet but has found himself mounted instead. Damn, that's gotta suck. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Kane landing shots from mount. Madman tries to control the position but Kane now has his back.
Kane not allowing Madman to control his hands. Madman tries to roll but Kane sticks to his back.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
That's one minute gone in the round. Kane keeps control of the position easily here as Madman tries to buck him off.
Kane has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action. Kane continues to stall.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Madman trying to control the action but Kane just sinks the hooks in. Madman is trying to avoid being dragged into an even worse position than he's already in but Kane is staying active. So, who will make the next big move? In this position it could be crucial.
Kane gets his hands free as Madman looks to control.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight. Kane just keeping the dominant position. He can't wait too long though, otherwise the referee will stand them back up.
Madman tries to escape the position.
Madman is very frustrated here, being controlled quite effectively by Kane.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. You can see the frustration on Madman's face… He knows he is in trouble unless he improves his position sooner rather than later.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Merrill Kane dominated that round. The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!
Madman is looking to clinch but Kane is avoiding it.
Madman wants to clinch up but Kane keeps it at a distance. Madman tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Kane was well out of range. Poor timing from Madman. Kane displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Madman. Madman darts in looking for a takedown but Kane gets double underhooks and turns Madman into the cage. Kane throws a big counter combination but Madman scrambles out of danger and avoids any damage. Kane is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Madman can do to turn this around? Madman doesn't manage to clinch there - Kane circles away.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Madman is defended easily by Kane. Kane appears to be looking for a big counter. Merrill Kane has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Black Madman. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Kane circles away from the clinch attempt.
That's one minute gone in the round. Madman tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Kane swivels and escapes. Madman throws a lazy head kick and Kane counters with a takedown into side control. Kane lands a few punches from side control. Kane decides to stand up, so the ref orders Madman to his feet. Madman with a lazy takedown attempt and Kane moves into the clinch. Madman is looking for a takedown up against the cage. Kane gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt. A real battle for position is taking place between these two warriors. Kane decides to pull guard. Kane has his feet on Madman's hips. He pushes off and gets to his feet. Nice work. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Madman gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily and Kane counters with a nice double leg into guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Kane sitting in guard, not really doing much. Kane gets to his feet - Madman follows without any prompting. Merrill Kane is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. Kane stuffs the takedown attempt from Madman. Madman gets slowly back to his feet. Kane is looking to counter the offense by Madman and move into the clinch. Madman has his takedown stuffed and Kane counters with a nice double leg into guard. Madman is wriggling around but Kane manages to pass to half guard.
Kane takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Kane decides to stand up and try his luck on the feet. Kane lands a jab, followed by a cross and another cross, as Madman backs up against the cage.
Madman throws a wild body kick that Kane sees coming a mile off. As Madman looks to move away, Kane throws a big counter combo but Madman just gets out of the way. Madman closes the distance looking to clinch and Kane counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground. Madman manages to escape and get back to his feet.
Black Madman seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Merrill Kane is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. Madman throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Kane's waist but Kane gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Madman off to one side. Kane leaves Madman with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt. Kane throwing a counter right hand but Madman manages to avoid it.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Madman goes for a double leg but Kane avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Kane continues to drive forward. Kane really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape. Kane clinches with his opponent.
Kane decides to pull guard. Kane will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions. Madman is fighting to break Kane's control of his arms but Kane is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment. Madman won't allow Kane to get back to his feet. Madman trying to control but Kane is working from the bottom. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Merrill Kane dominated that second round. The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! This is the final round!
Madman misses with a kick to the body and Kane counters with a nice double leg into half guard. Madman tries to push off, looking to stand up, but Kane manages to move to mount!
Kane gets to his feet and calls his opponent to stand. Here come the fireworks! Kane tries to sprawl but Madman drives through with a takedown into half guard. Madman is working for a kimura but Kane is defending it quite comfortably.
Kane holds on for dear life, maintaining half guard for now. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Kane's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.
That's one minute gone in the round. Madman trying to control from Kane's half guard. Kane has other ideas though and has regained full guard. Madman lands a couple of decent looking shots. Madman prevents Kane from getting back to his feet. Madman looking to sit in guard and control but Kane gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top. Kane seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up. Madman wants to improve his position but instead Kane has moved into half guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Kane escapes and gets back to his feet. Madman gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily and Kane holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch. Madman has had enough of the clinch but Kane keeps him there for the moment. Kane scores with a knee to the head.
Madman jumps guard but Kane turns him against the cage and keeps the fight standing. Kane jumps guard.
Kane tries to strike from the bottom.
Kane seems keen to control Madman's posture.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Madman wants to control from the top but Kane keeps moving. Kane has Madman pulled in close to control his posture. The fighters are working up against the cage. Kane manages to wriggle his way back to his feet, so the fighters are now clinched against the cage. Madman looking for a takedown. Merrill Kane has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Black Madman. Madman manages to pull guard. Let's see whether he can land a sub off his back. Madman is working an open guard so Kane takes the opportunity to get back to his feet. Kane lands with a kick to the temple. Madman shrugs as if to say "is that all you've got?"
That's four minutes gone in the round. Madman shoots in for a takedown but Kane shows good takedown defense. Madman shoots and misses and Kane counters with a one-two to the body. Madman takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired. Madman throws a body kick despite being completely out of range and Kane counters with a shoot takedown. Madman fights it but they end up in guard. Kane is standing up over Madman. Madman looks to escape but Kane dives into side control.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Madman regains half guard. Kane decides to stand and escape the position. Kane moves into the clinch. Black Madman has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! Merrill Kane is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach. Kane's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
And that's the end of the fight! Merrill Kane showed his dominance in that final round. Well Kane has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
