Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Takanori Gomi (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Spike Dragon (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Spike Dragon is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Takanori Gomi! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Spike Dragon! The judges for this bout are Ren Mimura, Shigeki Sano and Kenichi Hosakawa.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Gomi throws a nice looking combination but Dragon bobs and weaves to avoid any damage. Dragon shoots in looking for a takedown. Gomi tries to sprawl out of it but Dragon keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Gomi manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing. Dragon shoots for a double leg takedown but Gomi sprawls well. He's pushed Dragon's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily. A combination from Gomi does no damage. Dragon doesn't manage to clinch there - Gomi circles away.
Dragon is looking to take this fight into the clinch. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Gomi circles away from the clinch attempt.
Dragon tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Gomi swivels and escapes. Takanori Gomi has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Spike Dragon. Gomi tries to bum rush Dragon with a series of wild strikes but Dragon uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
That's one minute gone in the round. Dragon misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out. Gomi throws a wild combination but nothing lands. Dragon shoots in looking for a takedown. Gomi tries to sprawl out of it but Dragon keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Gomi manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing. Dragon throws a head kick that half lands.
Dragon fails in his attempt to clinch. Gomi throws a push kick but Dragon slaps the foot to one side.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight. Dragon showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Gomi.

Dragon looks gassed! Gomi avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Gomi closes the distance and clinches. Gomi breaks from the clinch.
Dragon tries to clinch up and Gomi counters by clinching up. Gomi on the defensive, avoiding the knees to the body.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Gomi digs a right hand into Dragon's ribs. Those have got to be taking their toll on Dragon's gas tank. Dragon landing some nice looking knees to the body.

Dragon has Gomi pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Gomi manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing. Dragon wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee. Dragon keeps control of Gomi as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks. Dragon has had enough of the clinch but Gomi keeps him there for the moment. Dragon wants to break the clinch but can't.
Dragon is working hard here but doesn't seem to be able to control effectively, up against the cage. Dragon is trying to slow the pace down but that's a couple of times in a row that he's tried to get underhooks and Gomi has denied him. Gomi wants to break the clinch but can't.

That's four minutes gone in the round. Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it. Dragon wants to break the clinch but can't.
Gomi is trying to work out of this bad position, with his back against the cage. Dragon tries to stall but Gomi uses the opportunity to gain a better position.
Dragon is looking for a takedown up against the cage. Gomi gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt. Gomi lands a hook to the body. It's hard to tell if that hurt Dragon or not. Gomi is looking to break free of the clinch but Dragon has double underhooks. Dragon wants to break free but Gomi has control.

Gomi is trying to work out of this bad position, with his back against the cage. Gomi pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat. Dragon with a lazy takedown attempt and Gomi counters by clinching up. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Gomi wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee. Gomi escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Gomi throws out a token jab with nothing on it. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Gomi trying to stand up but can't free himself from Dragon's guard. Dragon isolates an arm and boxes in a triangle. Gomi stacks Dragon on his neck as he steps over and passes to the side. He's now in a much more dominant position where he can look to do some serious damage. Nice move by Gomi! Dragon is looking to slip a leg under and get half guard but Gomi is one step ahead and moves to full mount! Gomi trying to control but he's not successful this time. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Dragon is breathing heavily. The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Gomi cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!
That's one minute gone in the round. Gomi lands a heavy elbow. Gomi controlling the pace for now. Dragon takes a big shot to the head but keeps on trying to improve his position. Gomi content just to control the position here. Dragon regains half guard. Dragon pushes Gomi off and gets back to his feet.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Dragon tries to clinch up and Gomi counters with a shoot takedown into half guard. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Dragon wants to control but Gomi is keeping busy.
Gomi knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Dragon on the ground. Dragon avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Gomi. Gomi tries to stand but his arm is trapped. Dragon is trying to maintain the position but Gomi is very close to passing his half guard.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Gomi seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime. Dragon slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work. Dragon looking to control.
The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up. Dragon wants to clinch and Gomi counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Gomi. Gomi trying to control but Dragon is working from the bottom.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Dragon looking to control the pace of the fight rather than finish it. Dragon not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Dragon is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive. Gomi wants to stand but Dragon is controlling his posture from full guard. Gomi distracts Dragon with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Takanori Gomi dominated that second round. The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. This is the final round!
Good work by Dragon as he checks the leg kick. Dragon shoots in but doesn't get the takedown and Gomi counters into the clinch. Nicely done. Gomi escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Spike Dragon seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Dragon gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily and Gomi counters with a nice double leg into side control. Dragon won't be happy with that. Dragon is positioning himself to get back to half guard. Both fighters are breathing heavily. Gomi misses with a strike but at least he's keeping busy, looking to cause some damage - that will still help him when it comes to the judges scorecards.
That's one minute gone in the round. Gomi prevents Dragon from escaping the position. Dragon wants to control but Gomi postures up. Gomi decides to stand up, so the ref orders Dragon to his feet. Dragon avoids a kick to the body.
Gomi misses with a low kick. Dragon tries to clinch but Gomi moves away and Gomi counters with a one-two to the body. Dragon blocks the body kick.
That's two minutes gone in the round. My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer. Gomi circles away from the clinch attempt and Gomi counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Dragon! Dragon working to try and regain half guard.
Dragon in a bad spot here, taking shots to the head. Dragon is trying desperately to improve position. BOOM! Gomi connects with a massive shot to the dome!

That's three minutes gone in the round. Gomi prevents Dragon from getting the reversal. Gomi content just to control the position here. Dragon working to try and regain half guard.
Gomi takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though. Gomi trying to control but Dragon is having none of it.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless. Gomi prevents Dragon from getting the reversal. Dragon regains half guard. Dragon trying to hold on to Gomi's head to control him but Gomi postures up.
Gomi is nestled in close to Dragon, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure. Spike Dragon has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! Gomi looking to pass the half guard. Not this time.
And that's the end of the fight! Takanori Gomi showed his dominance in that final round. Well Gomi has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
