The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Penn tries for a takedown but Kuznetcov circles away easily
so Kuznetcov counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
Penn is working an open guard so Kuznetcov takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.
Penn has his takedown stuffed
and Kuznetcov counters with a nice double leg into half guard.

Kuznetcov prevents Penn from improving his position.
Kuznetcov knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Penn on the ground.
Kuznetcov seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.
Kuznetcov's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.

Penn tries to get to full guard but Kuznetcov has control of the leg.

Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Kuznetcov in particular looking to stall.
Kuznetcov seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime.

Kuznetcov keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Penn's head.
Penn bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Kuznetcov's guard.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Kuznetcov looking to control the pace of the fight rather than finish it.
Kuznetcov has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.

There's a bit of a scramble here and now Kuznetcov is on top in guard.

Kuznetcov stands up over Penn, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.
Penn is rocked!
Kuznetcov arches his back and unloads with a massive left and a right! Penn's eyes roll back into his head, he's out cold! The ref dives in to stop the fight - wow, they were hard shots!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:55 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Strikes). Andrey Kuznetcov!
