Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Earl Simmons (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and John Michaels (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). I can't wait for this one - let's get the fighter introductions out of the way and get this one started!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Earl Simmons! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, John Michaels! The judges for this bout are Stewart Dunkirk, Daniel Franklin and Wesley Smith.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Simmons feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position. Simmons is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions. Simmons trying to move into half guard but instead Michaels has managed to sweep! Michaels won't allow Simmons to get back to his feet. Simmons is trying to control the position but Michaels postures up. Simmons wants to get back to his feet but Michaels is in a dominant position and won't allow it. Michaels drops back looking for a leg! Simmons is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Simmons manages to kick Michaels off! Michaels jumps back into Simmons's guard. Michaels looks gassed! Simmons managing to control the position. Michaels stopping the sweep attempt from Simmons.
That's one minute gone in the round. Michaels prevents Simmons from getting back to his feet.
Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up. Simmons misses with a jab, cross combination.
Simmons fails miserably with a takedown attempt. Michaels showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Simmons.
Michaels takes an uppercut right on the jaw but it doesn't phase him. Michaels with a lazy takedown attempt and Simmons cracks him with a counter punch right on the button. Simmons gets a takedown into half guard. Simmons working Michaels over with strikes.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Michaels wants to get back to his feet. Michaels throws a strike from the bottom that misses.
Michaels gets full guard. Simmons wants to stand and escape but instead Michaels has hit a sweep and he's now on top in guard. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Simmons wants to get back to his feet but Michaels is in a dominant position and won't allow it. Simmons knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Michaels on the ground. Simmons can't keep his opponent in guard - Michaels advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount. Michaels is looking for a kimura but Simmons is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Michaels to get the leverage. Simmons wants to control but Michaels is keeping busy.
Simmons is defending against the submission attempts here by Michaels.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Michaels seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Simmons does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back. Michaels prevents Simmons from improving his position. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Michaels slips a nice elbow through Simmons's hands, connecting with Simmons's forehead. Michaels stops Simmons from getting back to his feet.

That's four minutes gone in the round. A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd. Simmons is trying to stand.
The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up. Simmons looking for a takedown here - he's got it. Michaels working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Simmons. Simmons looking to pass the guard. Simmons works over Michaels with some ground and pound from guard. Simmons has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player. Simmons is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control. Simmons trying to control the position from guard on top but Michaels is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Michaels can do anything to dispel that myth. Simmons is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Simmons is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Earl Simmons dominated that round. The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!
Simmons swings for the body but Michaels moves out of range.
Simmons throws a series of punches but Michaels moves out of range. Simmons shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Oh and he's advanced to full mount straight away. Simmons lands a shot to the body, followed up by a shot to the exposed head of his trapped opponent.

Michaels is rocked! Simmons landing strikes from the mount. Michaels is still in real trouble! Can Simmons finish him? Michaels gets back to half guard. Michaels seems to have recovered his senses. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Simmons is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen. Simmons lands strikes from half guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. Michaels looking for submissions off his back. Michaels tries to get to full guard but Simmons has control of the leg. Michaels trying to control but Simmons postures up.
The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Simmons lands a nice short elbow. Simmons is keeping good posture, landing some ground and pound. Simmons throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage. Michaels gets full guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round. There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action. Simmons distracts Michaels with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm. Simmons trying to control but Michaels is working from the bottom. Michaels throwing his legs up looking for a triangle.
Michaels keeping full guard, as Simmons tries to pass. Michaels looking for a triangle here. Simmons is fighting it but it looks tight! Michaels pulls the arm across and this one won't last much longer! Nope, Simmons is tapping out - this one is all over!
