PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Sylvester Ritter (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Peter Petely (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). On his way into the cage it seems that Sylvester Ritter has been attacked by a crazed fan! It looks like it might have been the just bleed guy! Luckily Sylvester Ritter seems to be OK! I thought that lunatic was in prison!?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Sylvester Ritter!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Peter Petely!
The judges for this bout are Cecil Peabody, Tiny Johnson and Chris Downing.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Petely has taken the fight to the clinch.
Ritter misses with the head strike.
Petely drops down looking for an ankle pick but Ritter pulls his leg out and moves away.
Wow, both these guys are really going for it!
Ritter throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
Ritter waving his hands out in front of him, looking to distract Petely.
Petely fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Ritter avoids it really well and circles away.
Peter Petely seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Petely has Ritter up against the cage in a clinch.
Petely goes for a takedown in the clinch but Ritter prevents it.
Sylvester Ritter has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Peter Petely.
Ritter lands a short shot on the inside that snaps the head of Petely backwards.

Petely ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Petely no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Ritter wants to stand but Petely is controlling his posture from full guard.
Ritter knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Petely on the ground.

Ritter gets to his feet. Petely looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!

Petely drives through and clinches with Ritter against the cage.

Petely can't get the takedown.

Petely ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Petely no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.

Petely working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Ritter doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Ritter manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Ritter stands up and waves to Petely to follow him.
The fighters circling - Ritter throws out the jab but it was never going to land.
Petely has been working on his striking defense in training and it's paying off as Ritter is landing a low percentage of strikes.
Petely uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Ritter.
Ritter looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight.

Petely looking to score a takedown here. Ritter is defending well but Petely drives through and ends up in Ritter's guard.
Ritter is looking to stand back up... there's a bit of a scramble and Petely dives into side control.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Ritter is looking for a sweep.
Petely is putting a hurting on Ritter here, landing some big shots from side control.
Ritter tries to escape but Petely is in control.
Petely lands a decent elbow from side control.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Ritter on the wrong end of some ground and pound.
Petely tries to cartwheel into mount but he doesn't manage it.
Petely is looking to take a break and control but Ritter is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Ritter tries to bench press Petely off him but Petely keeps the position.
Petely in side control lands a nice looking series of punches and elbows.
Petely in side control, trying to ground and pound but not landing this time.
Petely advances nicely into full mount.

Petely is working for a guillotine from mount but Ritter frees his head quite easily.
Ritter wants to get back to his feet.
Petely with good strikes from the mount here!
Ritter tries to buck Petely off but he can't manage it.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Petely goes for an armbar but he's fallen flat on his backside there and now Ritter is on top in guard.

Ritter got a little sloppy there for a moment and Petely has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Ritter has managed to get both his arms back between Petely's legs - danger averted.
Ritter wants to stand but Petely is controlling his posture from full guard.
Ritter stopping the sweep attempt from Petely.
Ritter has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Petely is proving hard to escape from.
Petely looking for a sweep. Not yet Petely, not yet.
Petely has a closed guard, preventing Ritter from standing up.
Ritter landing with the ground and pound.
Ritter trying to stand up but can't free himself from Petely's guard.

That's four minutes gone in the round.

Petely working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Ritter doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Oh but Petely is tightening it up a little... Ritter has to be careful here... He's got his foot tucked under now, this looks tight! Ritter reacted too slowly and this one could be over in a matter of seconds! YES! Ritter taps out! Nice BJJ there by Petely!
