0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Tommy Sewell! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Karl Mathers! The judges for this bout are Steven Brown, Colin Fotheringham and Paul Tew.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Mathers misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Horrible takedown by Sewell or perhaps it was just good defense by Mathers which made him look bad. Mathers lands a jab, followed by a cross and another cross, as Sewell backs up against the cage.
Mathers scores with a big left there. The judges will like that one. Mathers looks to land a combination but Sewell avoids it well. Mathers clinches up against the cage. Mathers jumps guard but Sewell stands there with Mathers around his waist. Mathers gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.

A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Mathers holds on and takes a little breather. Mathers has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Sewell can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself. Sewell loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry. Sewell postures up.
Sewell is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions. Sewell stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Mathers swivels though and keeps the full guard.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Mathers keeping moving, preventing Sewell from controlling successfully. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Sewell is really struggling to control Mathers but he's trying to hold on to the position.
It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground. Mathers looks to score with a combo but nothing lands. Sewell is looking to take this fight into the clinch. Sewell fakes the leg kick and cracks Mathers in the body. Sewell scores with a nice looking left hook and follows it up with an uppercut!
Karl Mathers seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now. Sewell shoots for a takedown but Mathers saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily. Mathers swinging wilding here.

Karl Mathers dominated that round. That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.
Mathers misses with a hook. Sewell ducked under it nicely. Sewell fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Mathers manages to avoid it. Mathers darts in trying to clinch and Sewell counters by moving into the clinch. Mathers tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Sewell smiles and moves away.

That's one minute gone in the round. Mathers manages to land a sweep and he's now on top! Lovely Jiu Jitsu! Mathers perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Sewell trying to control here.
Mathers is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Sewell is just riding it out for now. Mathers eventually gives up the hold. Sewell trying to control here.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight. Mathers throwing shots but Sewell is blocking nicely. Mathers controlling the action here. Mathers has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground. Sewell misses with a takedown attempt - Mathers sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses. Mathers lands with a two punch combination before moving back out of range.

That's three minutes gone in the round. Sewell is looking to get to half guard. Mathers goes for an armbar but he's not got it… Sewell turns into him and now he's in Mathers's guard.

That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena. Mathers has managed to work for a loose triangle. I think Sewell should be able to defend this one pretty easily though. Oh, Mathers has tightened it up now! Sewell should have reacted faster there - he's in big trouble and yes, he's tapped out! This one is all over!
