Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
2 - 3 - 0, fighting out of New York, Abdul The Refugee! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
2 - 3 - 0, fighting out of New York, Macadam Baird! The judges for this bout are Chad Campbell, Anthony Taglia and Lou da Vinci.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! The Refugee tries a switch kick but it misses it's target. Baird steps in looking to clinch after the strikes miss from The Refugee. The Refugee tries to keep at a distance but Baird has taken the fight into the clinch. The Refugee tries a shoulder strike but it doesn't do any damage. Baird tries a shoulder strike but it doesn't do any damage. Baird prevents a takedown attempt there.
The Refugee has moved round to his opponent's back and is looking for a suplex! Oh snap! He's tossed Baird clear over his head and slammed him to the mat! Baird wants to control his opponent's hands but The Refugee gets his hands free. The Refugee punches the canvas rather than the man. Baird breaks The Refugee's hooks off and manages to turn into his guard.
Baird must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Baird wants to control from the top but The Refugee keeps moving. The Refugee is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Baird is aware though and is defending well. The Refugee has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
That's one minute gone in the round. Baird postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect. Baird showing good wrestling skills to control the position. The Refugee working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Baird doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Baird manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem. The Refugee looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
Baird content to stall in guard here. Baird landing with the ground and pound. The Refugee looking for a guillotine here but Baird defends easily.
Baird is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Baird is posturing up here but The Refugee has hold of an arm and he's gone for an armbar! Baird tries to roll out but it's too tight and Baird has to tap! Slick submission there by The Refugee!
