Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Sendou Kitano (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Robert Diggs (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Kitano comes to the cage accompanied by Yoshida Brothers - Ibuki. Robert Diggs has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Robert Diggs!
The judges for this bout are David Schapiro, John Kavanagh and Columbo Gatti.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kitano throws a right and a left that both miss.
Kitano throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Kitano throws out a token jab with nothing on it.
Kitano swings widly with a right hand
and Diggs counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.


It looks like Sendou Kitano has been cut.
Diggs connects with a crisp jab.
Diggs has done a lot of speed work in the buildup to this fight.
The fighters circling - Kitano throws out the jab but it was never going to land.
Diggs throws the left hand but Kitano avoids the punch easily.
Diggs throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
Kitano ducks down and throws a hook to the body.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Diggs throws out a counter right but Kitano avoids it with no problem.
Kitano closes the distance and takes a jab right on the nose as he does so.

and Kitano counters with a left and a right that stings Diggs.

Diggs connects with a single shot there.
Kitano throws a predictable looking body shot

and Diggs counters into the clinch. Nicely done.
Kitano gets underhooks to prevent Diggs's takedown attempt.
Kitano lands with a good tight uppercut to the head.
Diggs scores with a nice hook to the head.
Diggs tries to throw a body punch but Kitano avoids it by throwing Diggs back against the cage.
Diggs is struggling to control the position.
Kitano wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee.

Kitano tries to break the clinch but Diggs is controlling the position.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Kitano tries to land a shot to the body but it's blocked.
Diggs pushes Kitano back against the cage and unloads with a body punch.
Diggs fails to land with a short punch on the inside.
Diggs drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Kitano gets the underhooks and prevents it.

Diggs breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.

Kitano takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it.

Diggs misses with an uppercut
and Kitano counters with a good, hard body kick but Diggs shrugs it off.
Kitano misses with a left hand
and Diggs counters with a lovely straight right hand!
Diggs circles away from the clinch attempt.
Diggs throws a hook but Kitano avoids it easily.

Kitano moves into range and clinches up with Diggs.
Diggs tried to land a shot to the body but connects with Kitano's elbow.
Diggs tries a body shot but Kitano blocks it.

Kitano escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Kitano rushes in with a sloppy looking punch
and Diggs counters with a right hand to the body.

Diggs closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Kitano is looking for a sweep.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Kitano wants to control but Diggs postures up.

Diggs in side control lands a decent elbow.
Kitano being controlled for a moment.
Diggs in side control, trying to ground and pound but not landing this time.
Kitano dodges the ground and pound from Diggs.
Kitano managing to avoid any damage from the strikes thrown by Diggs.
The strikes coming from Diggs are missing the target in this wave of attacks.
Diggs tries to score with some ground and pound. Kitano controls his posture well this time though and the shots don't do any damage.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The cut man is working on Sendou Kitano's cut.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


Kitano lands a nice shot to the body.
The step up in weight doesn't seem to be a problem for Diggs. He's performing admirably here against the bigger man.
Kitano walks into a jab.


Sendou Kitano's cut is getting worse.
Kitano takes one on the chin but seems OK.
Diggs takes a swing at Kitano's ribcage but misses.
Kitano throws a jab when Diggs was well out of range.

Kitano gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
Kitano is looking to stand back up but Diggs counters by passing into half guard. Oops... bit sloppy there by Kitano.

Diggs is keeping good posture, landing some ground and pound.
Kitano is trying to get back to full guard.

Diggs is trying to control. Kitano wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.
Diggs lands with a punch from half guard.
Diggs is figuring out what he wants to do next.
Diggs has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Diggs wants to control but Kitano is keeping him busy.
Diggs with the ground and pound but Kitano uses the opportunity to regain guard.
Diggs trying to control the position from guard on top but Kitano is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Diggs postures up in Kitano's guard and throws a big left but Kitano blocks it.
Kitano avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.
Kitano bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Diggs's guard.

Diggs fakes a jab and then connects with a hook.
Diggs tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Kitano was well out of range. Poor timing from Diggs.
Boom, another hit is landed. "You're gunna get knocked out" taunts Kitano, as that shot connected.
Kitano takes a shot right to the liver - Bas would have been proud of that punch.
Diggs takes a shot to the body in his stride.
Diggs fakes low and throws an overhand right that catches Kitano on the side of the head.


Sendou Kitano's cut is bleeding quite badly. He's got to try and protect it.
Diggs comes forward and lands a shot to the body, then darts back out of range.

Kitano misses with a hook. Diggs ducked under it nicely.

and Diggs counters with a lovely shot to the body.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Kitano steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Diggs.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Diggs connects with a hook to the side of his opponent's head.
Sloppy strikes from Kitano. Those never looked like landing.
Diggs dives in for a single leg takedown but Kitano sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage.

Jeez, Sendou Kitano's cut is really nasty now. The referee must be thinking about getting that checked.

Diggs throws a body punch but Kitano moves out of range.
It looked like Kitano wanted to counter with a hook but didn't fully commit.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Robert Diggs showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! This is the final round!


Kitano throws a lazy right hand but Diggs sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.
Diggs jabbing away but nothing is landing.
Kitano uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Diggs.

An uppercut on the inside fails to land for Diggs.
Kitano swings away with an uppercut that misses.
Kitano can't break the clinch.
Kitano wants to break free but Diggs has control.
A head punch on the inside from Kitano fails to land.

Kitano uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Diggs.
Diggs takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily.

Diggs connects with a lovely right hand, straight down the pipe.

Diggs throws a body shot but no joy.
Kitano is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Diggs.
Kitano displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Diggs.

Kitano swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Diggs takes a jab on the nose. He smiles like he loves it and keeps coming.
Diggs lands a nice hook to Kitano's body. Kitano takes it in his stride and looks to land his own strikes.

Diggs shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Diggs was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!

Diggs with the ground and pound but Kitano regains half guard under the barage of strikes.
Kitano tries to get to full guard but Diggs has control of the leg.
Diggs wants to control but Kitano is keeping him busy.
Diggs thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.
Diggs is nestled in close to Kitano, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.
Diggs has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Kitano regains full guard, whilst avoiding punches from Diggs.

Kitano is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Diggs is controlling him.
Diggs is pushing down on Kitano's leg trying to pass to half guard. Kitano is fighting to maintain full guard but Diggs has managed to sneak the leg through.
Sendou Kitano has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Diggs winds up and cracks Kitano with a swinging punch to the side of the head.
Diggs wants to take a breather but Kitano is having none of it.
Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Diggs in particular looking to stall.
Kitano is trying to stand up here but Diggs is controlling him well.
We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Diggs is keen to just control but Kitano is a slippery customer.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
Diggs dips to his left and cracks Kitano with an uppercut!
Diggs uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Kitano.
Diggs throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Kitano stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.
Diggs misses with a wild body shot.

Kitano misses with a telegraphed body shot
and Diggs counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.

The referee calls the doctor in to look at Sendou Kitano's cut. Oh no, the doctor has called an end to the bout!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:39 of round 3, we have a winner by way of TKO (Cut). Robert Diggs!
