Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Michel Sweet! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Mariusz Pudzianowski! The judges for this bout are Roger Salmon, Jeff Smith and Paul Gruel.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Pudzianowski closes the distance and clinches. Pudzianowski escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Pudzianowski looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into side control! Oh, that's bad for Sweet! Pudzianowski in side control, just content to control the action for now. Pudzianowski lands a nice forearm strike. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Sweet is not in a great position here, taking some shots.
It looks like Michel Sweet has been cut. Pudzianowski working the head and body with strikes. Pudzianowski goes for an armbar! This could be all over! Wait, no, Sweet rolls with the submission and now he's on top in Pudzianowski's guard! Nice work there by Sweet! We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Pudzianowski lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard. Sweet avoiding any damage from the ground and pound. Pudzianowski's corner is telling him to maintain position. It looks like Pudzianowski might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it. Sweet has butterfly guard. He's looking to stand up here. He pushes Pudzianowski off him and springs to his feet nicely. The crowd applauds. Pudzianowski clinches with his opponent.

Sweet stays in close to Pudzianowski's body and controls the position. Pudzianowski wants to sweep but no luck. Pudzianowski is trying to keep Sweet in close.
Sweet has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Pudzianowski is proving hard to escape from. Sweet trying to control but Pudzianowski is working from the bottom.

Pudzianowski has Sweet pulled in close to control his posture. The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet. Sweet controls the pace of the fight for a moment.
The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet. Pudzianowski clinches up with Sweet and pushes him back against the cage. Pudzianowski has hold of one of Sweet's legs. Sweet is fighting the takedown attempt but Pudzianowski gets the trip and lands the takedown into guard. Sweet is breathing heavily. Pudzianowski lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Pudzianowski is taking a breather. Sweet says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something. The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Pudzianowski lands a nice short elbow.
Michel Sweet's cut is getting worse. Pudzianowski is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.

Mariusz Pudzianowski dominated that round. The cut man is working on Michel Sweet's cut. That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.
Pudzianowski drives through with a takedown into Sweet's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position. Sweet has his foot on Pudzianowski's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Pudzianowski works his way back into a safe position though. Pudzianowski is working Sweet over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes. Pudzianowski must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Pudzianowski wants to stand but Sweet is controlling his posture from full guard. Pudzianowski looking to pass the guard.

Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Sweet is staying active underneath Pudzianowski, who seems content to just control the action from this position. The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet. Pudzianowski closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Pudzianowski is stalling here. Sweet is in no mood to hang around though. He's locked up a kimura from the bottom! Pudzianowski seems to be keeping calm but he's forced to roll out of the hold and Sweet has ended up in side control on the top. Nice work. Pudzianowski is trying to control Sweet's posture but Sweet avoids it. Pudzianowski gets one leg under and gets the fight to half guard. Sweet seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Pudzianowski does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back. Sweet working Pudzianowski over with strikes. Pudzianowski feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position. Sweet is wriggling around but Pudzianowski manages to pass to half guard.

Pudzianowski shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Sweet napping and manages to drive through into side control! Pudzianowski working the ground and pound.
