Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Cory Meyer (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Richard Kirmayr (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Richard Kirmayr looks lathargic as he enters the arena. Wake up son, you're about to have a fight!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Cory Meyer!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Richard Kirmayr !
The judges for this bout are Emerson Jorge, Seu Braga and Felipe Paraventi.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Meyer takes a body punch but keeps moving.
Meyer throws a wild combination but nothing lands.

Kirmayr dives in and scores a takedown into Meyer's guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Meyer looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
Meyer keeping moving, preventing Kirmayr from controlling successfully.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Meyer is on top in guard.

Kirmayr looks winded!
Meyer tries to stand but Kirmayr is controlling from the bottom.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Meyer works over Kirmayr with some ground and pound from guard.

Meyer decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Kirmayr , up you get!

Meyer tries a head kick but it misses.

Meyer forces Kirmayr back against the cage and clinches.
Meyer has Kirmayr pushed against the cage.

Kirmayr has hold of one of Meyer's legs. Meyer is fighting the takedown attempt but Kirmayr gets the trip and lands the takedown into guard.
Meyer seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now.
Meyer wants to stand and escape but Kirmayr is having none of it.
Meyer will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Meyer wants to get back to his feet but Kirmayr passes into half guard.
Meyer is trying to get back to full guard.

Kirmayr is stalling here. Meyer is in no mood to hang around though. He's locked up a kimura from the bottom! Kirmayr seems to be keeping calm but he's forced to roll out of the hold and Meyer has ended up in side control on the top. Nice work.

Meyer stands up and we're back to a striking position.
Meyer moves into range and throws a combination. A nice jab followed by a hook to the body.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Meyer smiles there as he lands a nice right hand right on the button.

Kirmayr shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Meyer napping and manages to drive through into side control!
Kirmayr prevents Meyer from escaping the position.

Meyer tries to buck Kirmayr off but Kirmayr is having none of it.
Meyer tries to escape but Kirmayr is in control.
Meyer manages to get back to half guard.
Meyer looks like he's trying to stand up.
Meyer moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.
Meyer is looking to stand up but Kirmayr isn't so interested in that idea.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.

Meyer moves into the clinch.

Kirmayr ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Kirmayr no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.

Kirmayr throws his legs up looking to secure a triangle. Oh, that looks pretty tight, I gotta say! Meyer escapes and throws Kirmayr 's legs to the side, diving into side control!
Meyer is chipping away with strikes.
Kirmayr struggling a bit here.

That's time! Meyer's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.


Meyer fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.

Kirmayr drives through and clinches with Meyer against the cage.
Meyer wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Kirmayr has him pressed against the cage.

Meyer escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Meyer misses with a looping left.

Kirmayr fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Meyer, pushing him back against the cage.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Meyer's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.

Meyer gets caught flat footed, as Kirmayr shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.
Kirmayr is breathing heavily.

Meyer manages to escape and get back to his feet.

Meyer looks to land a combination but Kirmayr avoids it well.

Meyer sneaks out the side door and pushes Kirmayr away - he's back to his feet. The crowd show their appreciation for the escape.

Meyer stands, ready to strike. The ref makes him back up and allows Kirmayr to get to his feet.

Meyer has Kirmayr up against the cage in a clinch.
Meyer tries to break the clinch but Kirmayr is controlling the position.
Meyer changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Kirmayr fights it off and pushes away nicely.

Kirmayr throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Meyer stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.
Kirmayr blocks a head kick by Meyer.
Sloppy strikes from Meyer. Those never looked like landing.

Kirmayr closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
Meyer gets back to full guard.

Meyer wriggles free and stands up.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Kirmayr dodges the punch combination from Meyer.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's time! Back to the action! This is the final round!



Kirmayr gets tackled into the cage by Meyer. Meyer maintains the clinch.

Kirmayr breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.

Kirmayr closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.
The pace really dropping off here, momentarily.

Kirmayr pulls guard effortlessly.

Meyer stands up from guard. Let's bang!
Meyer is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Kirmayr can do to turn this around?

Meyer breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.

Kirmayr throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Meyer tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Kirmayr is in Meyer's guard.

The fighters are working up against the cage. Meyer manages to wriggle his way back to his feet, so the fighters are now clinched against the cage.

Meyer works for the underhooks and manages to get a trip takedown into guard.
Meyer has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
