Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Paul Jacobs!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Black Hand!
The judges for this bout are Edson Gomes, Matheus Silva and Emerson Jorge.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Jacobs moves into the clinch.
Hand has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate.

Jacobs manages to pull guard. Let's see whether he can land a sub off his back.
Jacobs is looking to stand back up but Hand counters by passing into half guard. Oops... bit sloppy there by Jacobs.
Jacobs wants to control but Hand is keeping busy.

Hand decides to stand up and try his luck on the feet.
Hand misses with a leg kick
and Jacobs counters with a one-two to the body.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Hand lands a jab followed by a nice looking cross.

Jacobs has managed to clinch.

Jacobs drags the fight down to the ground.
This has been an exciting period of action!

Jacobs has his foot on Hand's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Hand works his way back into a safe position though.

Jacobs scrambles and gets back to his feet.
Paul Jacobs is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.

Jacobs has Hand up against the cage in a clinch.
Jacobs tries to score a body lock takedown but Hand shows good agility there to stay on his feet.

Hand's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Hand keeps the fight on the outside.
Hand gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily
and Jacobs cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
Hand looks winded!

Hand is trying to work out of this bad position, with his back against the cage.

Hand misses with a left hand
and Jacobs counters with a nice jab to the body that keeps Hand thinking.
Jacobs misses with the combination.
Jacobs fails with an attempt to clinch.
The fight stays on the outside here - Jacobs looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Hand misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
Jacobs throws a counter high kick but Hand was just alert enough to avoid it.

and Jacobs makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range.
Paul Jacobs has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Black Hand.
Jacobs feints a straight left to the body, then turns around with a flashy move and hits Hands jaw with a dramatic spinning back fist!

Jacobs has closed the distance and engaged Hand in a clinch.

Jacobs successfully pulls guard.
Jacobs wants to stand and escape but Hand is having none of it.
Jacobs trying desperately to get back to his feet here but he's not having any joy at all. He's going to tire himself out if he's not careful.

Jacobs is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Hand is aware though and is defending well.

Jacobs wriggles free and stands up.

Jacobs has Hand up against the cage in a clinch.
Jacobs effectively controlling the action here.
Hand jumps guard but Jacobs stands there with Hand around his waist. Hand gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.

The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Hand wants to get back to striking at distance but Jacobs won't allow it.
Jacobs keeps the fight in the clinch, despite Hand's efforts to push away.
Jacobs is pushing Hand up against the cage, for a bit of lean and pray action. Action being used the in the loosest possible sense of the word.

Hand wants to break free but Jacobs has control.

Hand stands up and waves to Jacobs to follow him.

Jacobs is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Hand can do to turn this around?

Hand gets to his feet - Jacobs follows without any prompting.
Jacobs tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Hand paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Hand looked like he wanted to counter with a punch but didn't throw it.
Paul Jacobs is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Jacobs tries to clinch but Hand moves out of range.

The fighters are starting to get sweaty, which will make takedowns a bit more tricky.
and Jacobs counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
Jacobs tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Hand manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.

Jacobs moves into range and clinches up with Hand.

Jacobs escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

Jacobs fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Hand, pushing him back against the cage.

Jacobs jumps into guard, dragging Hand to the mat.

Hand got a little sloppy there for a moment and Jacobs has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Hand has managed to get both his arms back between Jacobs's legs - danger averted.
Hand throws a big right hand that misses.

Jacobs looking for a sweep. Not yet Jacobs, not yet.
Jacobs is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Jacobs is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Hand is controlling him.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Hand loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.

Jacobs had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Hand defends it easily.
Jacobs has a closed guard, preventing Hand from standing up.
The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Hand postures up in Jacobs's guard and throws a big left but Jacobs blocks it.
Jacobs is looking to stand up but Hand isn't so interested in that idea.

Jacobs is trying to pull guard but being pressed up against the cage enables Hand to keep the fight standing.

Jacobs is clearly stalling here... Pick up the pace son.

Hand tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Jacobs just stands there and leans against the cage.
Jacobs fails to pull the fight into his guard.
Jacobs tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Hand smiles and moves away.

And an attempted straight right on the counter from Hand! But no joy.
Black Hand seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Jacobs goes for a takedown attempt but Hand pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.

Hand darts in and clinches Jacobs up against the cage.
Jacobs really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Jacobs jumps guard but Hand turns him against the cage and keeps the fight standing.
Black Hand has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
The pace really dropping off here, momentarily.

I would just about give that final round to Black Hand.
Well Jacobs has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
