Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Denis Hussey (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Anatoliy Lapikov (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
5 - 7 - 0, fighting out of London, Denis Hussey! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
23 - 24 - 0, fighting out of London, Anatoliy Lapikov! The judges for this bout are Chris Edwards, Daniel Bishop and Sam Margolis.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Lapikov getting the better of the striking in that exchange. Hussey throws a left and a right that both miss
and Lapikov counters with a right hand to the body. Lapikov lands with a shot to the body. Hussey misses with a takedown attempt letting Lapikov counter with a right hand. Hussey is looking to land body kicks. A momentary lapse in concentration from Hussey enables Lapikov to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Hussey manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat. Hussey manages to escape and get back to his feet.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Hussey misses with a takedown attempt and Lapikov counters with a shoot takedown into half guard. Lapikov content to sit in half guard and control for a moment. Lapikov drops an elbow to the side of Hussey's head. Lapikov with a momentary lay and pray from half guard. Hussey wants to control but Lapikov is keeping busy.
That's one minute gone in the round. Lapikov takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists. Lapikov lands strikes from half guard. Lapikov has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan. Lapikov seems to be working for a kimura but Hussey defends the submission attempt. Lapikov maintaining the dominant position here and is working for a kimura. He's locked it up! Hussey could be in real trouble here! He's trying to wriggle out but Lapikov has cracked it and Hussey is screaming in pain - he's tapped out! Great finish by Lapikov!
