Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Thiago Costa!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Larry Buheler!
The judges for this bout are Thiago Cunha, Leandro Rodrigues and Felipe Paraventi.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Costa tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Buheler shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Costa pinned against the cage. Costa gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Costa lands with a nice low kick. That'll leave a bruise.
Costa scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice.
Costa trying to control the position but Buheler is working away.
Costa tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Costa has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
You can see the frustration on Buheler's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
Costa taking a break here but Buheler is having none of it and regains half guard.
Buheler is in trouble now - Costa has advanced to mount!
That's one minute gone in the round.
Buheler wants to hold on but Costa pushes him away.
Buheler keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Buheler tries to improve his position but Costa has taken his back! Costa has a choke - it's sunk in pretty tight... Will Buheler tap? No... maybe... yes! He's tapped! Costa pushes Buheler away and gets up to celebrate with his corner!
