Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Dan Sims (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Alan Schaefer (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Sims comes to the cage accompanied by Metallica - Enter Sandman . Schaefer has chosen The Bending by Hopesfall as his entrance music. Alan Schaefer told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of New York, Dan Sims! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Alan Schaefer! The judges for this bout are Bruno Lombardi, Dean Styles and Jonathan Paton.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Sims wants to clinch. Well, he's not going to score with shots like that. A lazy body kick attempt from Schaefer. Schaefer attempts a leg kick but it's missed by a good margin. Schaefer stalks Sims and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into Sims's face. Sims staggers backwards, shaken. Sims has a takedown stuffed. Sims moves in looking to clinch but Schaefer pushes him off. Schaefer misses with a double jab.
Sims has a takedown stuffed. Sims wants to clinch up but Schaefer keeps it at a distance. Nice takedown defense from Schaefer. No joy for Sims on that attempt. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Dan Sims. That's going to take a lot out of him. Sims doesn't manage to clinch there - Schaefer circles away.

That's one minute gone in the round. Schaefer fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Sims, pushing him back against the cage. Schaefer is trying to work out of this bad position, with his back against the cage. Sims misses with a knee to the head. Sims keeps control of Schaefer as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks. Sims is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Schaefer pulls him back up using the underhooks. Schaefer's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does. Sims avoids a punch combination nicely.

The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Schaefer throws a combination. Sims tries to block but a couple of punches get through. Dan Sims seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Schaefer closes the distance and clinches. Still in the clinch, Schaefer scores with a nice short uppercut. Schaefer is trying to break free. A battle for position here, against the cage. Schaefer pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat. Schaefer circles away from the clinch attempt and Schaefer counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Schaefer looks to score with a combo but nothing lands. Schaefer moves into range and throws a lovely three punch combination. Schaefer moves into range and clinches up with Sims. Schaefer wants to get back to striking at distance but Sims won't allow it.
Schaefer gets control of Sims's arms and successfully pulls guard. Schaefer will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back. Schaefer controlling the position. Schaefer wants to stand up but Sims is controlling him. Schaefer pulls Sims in close to prevent any damage.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Sims postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Schaefer is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Sims, into his guard. Sims is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Sims can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Schaefer controls the pace. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Alan Schaefer dominated that round. The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!
Sims wants to clinch but Schaefer slips to the side and Schaefer counters with a left and a right that stings Sims. Sims shoots in but doesn't get the takedown and Schaefer counters with a series of strikes. Sims will be more careful next time no doubt. Schaefer shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Oh and he's advanced to full mount straight away. Schaefer content just to control the position here. Sims tries to reverse the position but Schaefer maintains control. Sims is in a horrible position here. Schaefer smacks him with another shot as he tries to escape the position.
Schaefer takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though. Schaefer looking to control but Sims is working nicely, looking to advance position himself. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
That's one minute gone in the round. Sims tries to reverse the position but Schaefer maintains control. Schaefer controlling his opponent. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Schaefer trying to control but he's not successful this time.
Despite being in the dominant position, Alan Schaefer just isn't active enough and the referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Sims misses with a takedown attempt enabling Schaefer to counter with a crisp jab. This is turning into a torrid day at the office for Sims. He's trying desperately to land a takedown but he's failing miserably and getting slapped silly on the feet to compound his misery. Schaefer throws a leg kick which misses Sims's front leg but catches the back leg as Sims tries to avoid it. Sims showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Schaefer.
Schaefer is working the combinations to good effect here.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight. Schaefer connects with a hook to the side of his opponent's head. Schaefer moves into range and clinches up with Sims. Sims with an attempt at a knee that misses.
Schaefer's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does. Sims darts in trying to clinch enabling Schaefer to counter with a crisp jab. Sims fails with a takedown attempt from distance. Schaefer darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard. Schaefer wants to free his trapped foot but Sims is holding on for dear life with his legs.

Schaefer won't let Sims get back to his feet... He wants to keep the fight where it is for now. Schaefer controlling from the full mount. Let's hope that Schaefer has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.
That's four minutes gone in the round. A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd. Sims is squirming around, avoiding Schaefer's attempts to control the action. Schaefer tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Alan Schaefer showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.

Sims not throwing his punches with enough precision this time. Sims throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage. Sims decides he's had enough of the ground and stands up. Sims misses with a takedown and Schaefer counters with a two punch combo. Alan Schaefer seems to be getting the better of the standup. Both fighters are breathing heavily. Schaefer attempts a low kick but it misses it's target. Schaefer gets in close and instigates a clinch. Schaefer breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Dan Sims is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. Schaefer looks to land a combination. Sims sees it coming but can only parry a couple of the shots.
That's one minute gone in the round. Schaefer lands a jab-cross combination. Schaefer closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Schaefer lands in his opponent's guard. Schaefer is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long. Schaefer stands up over Sims, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head. Schaefer slips effortlessly into side control - very nice. Sims is trying to work for a sweep but Schaefer has mounted him!
That's two minutes gone in the round. Sims is trying to escape but when you're mounted that's not too easy.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Schaefer controlling from mount. Schaefer working for a submission but Sims is keeping him at bay. Sims can't escape the position.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Sims is trying to get back to his feet but can't. Schaefer sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment.

Alan Schaefer is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach. Sims squirming around on the bottom, looking to escape.
And that's the end of the fight! Alan Schaefer comfortably won the final round on my scorecard. Well Schaefer has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
