Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 5 - 0, fighting out of New York, Bernard Acevedo! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Joe Laston! The judges for this bout are Steve Montenegro, Chad Campbell and Russell Pearce.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Laston swings wildly with a couple of big hooks
and Acevedo counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Acevedo. Laston has butterfly guard. He's looking to stand up here. He pushes Acevedo off him and springs to his feet nicely. The crowd applauds. Laston misses with a combination
enabling Acevedo to counter with a crisp jab. Laston swings widly with a right hand
and Acevedo counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Acevedo. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Laston wants to stand but Acevedo is controlling the position. Acevedo stands up and waves to Laston to follow him. Laston throws a series of punches but Acevedo avoids them all with ease. Acevedo is looking for a counter combo. Laston fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Acevedo drops down looking for a counter takedown but Laston sprawls and moves away. Acevedo shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Laston sprawls well. Laston wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Acevedo gets slowly back to his feet. Laston will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Laston misses with a jab, cross combination.
That's one minute gone in the round. Acevedo changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Laston tries to avoid it but Acevedo manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Laston to the ground. Laston escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet. Laston throws out a counter right but Acevedo avoids it with no problem. Laston swinging wildly here.
Laston throws a wild combination but nothing lands. Acevedo uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Laston. Laston avoids the clinch attempt nicely.

It looks like Bernard Acevedo has been cut. Acevedo looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Laston is fending him off so far but Acevedo persists. Nope, Laston circles away and we're back to standing. As Acevedo backs off Laston throws a huge counter combo but Acevedo manages to avoid it all. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Bernard Acevedo. That's going to take a lot out of him. A telegraphed right hand from Laston misses the target. Acevedo drops down looking for a counter takedown but Laston sprawls and moves away. Laston fails to land with a series of punches.
Acevedo on the wrong end of a nice hook. Acevedo misses with a takedown attempt - Laston sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Acevedo fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Laston avoids it really well and circles away. Laston throws a monster overhand right that drops Acevedo! Laston follows up with more strikes from mount and the fight is all over!
