PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Magomedrasul Khasbulaev (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and George Ciz (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Khasbulaev comes into the arena with Fetty Wap - Trap Queen blaring out of the sound system. Rumors backstage are that the fighters have been paid to keep it standing but we know that would never happen in MMA!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 10 - 10 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Magomedrasul Khasbulaev!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 10 - 8 - 0, fighting out of New York, George Ciz!
The judges for this bout are Stewart Dunkirk, Chris Downing and Cecil Peabody.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Ciz avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Ciz moves away from the strike by Khasbulaev.
Ciz throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
We've been hearing reports that Khasbulaev has been drilling takedowns in recent sessions so let's see if that has an impact on the result of this fight.
Khasbulaev feints and then cracks Ciz's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Ciz down.
Khasbulaev throws a half hearted mid kick.
It seemed like Ciz was going to counter with the hook but didn't fully commit to it.
Khasbulaev misses with a kick to the body.
Ciz appeared to try and counter that last move with a leg kick.
Khasbulaev dips down and scores with a jab to the body.

Khasbulaev goes to the watering hole and comes back with a big thumbs up from the judges as he scores a three punch combo.

Ciz closes the distance and clinches up with Khasbulaev, looking for a takedown. Ciz pushes Khasbulaev against the cage but Khasbulaev circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.

Ciz throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.

Ciz is rocked!


It looks like George Ciz has been cut.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
A control attempt from Ciz but he's now mounted!
Ciz is still in real trouble! Can Khasbulaev finish him?
Ciz sneaks a leg back under and regains half guard and is working straight away to try and get back to guard. He hasn't managed just yet though.
Khasbulaev is trying to get back to his feet now but his leg is trapped.
Ciz gets full guard.
Khasbulaev is fighting to break Ciz's control of his arms but Ciz is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.

Khasbulaev wants to get back to his feet but Ciz is in a dominant position and won't allow it.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Ciz accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Ciz works a leg free and moves into half guard.
Khasbulaev knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Ciz on the ground.

Ciz is trying to work for a kimura but Khasbulaev is defending well.
Khasbulaev is not content to let Ciz control the position.

Ciz is stalling here. Khasbulaev is in no mood to hang around though. He's locked up a kimura from the bottom! Ciz seems to be keeping calm but he's forced to roll out of the hold and Khasbulaev has ended up in side control on the top. Nice work.

Khasbulaev stands up.

Khasbulaev closes the distance and pushes Ciz back into the cage.

Ciz manages to pull guard.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


Khasbulaev bobs and weaves and throws out a fast jab that snaps Ciz's head backwards.
Khasbulaev connects with a looping left hand that seems like it dazed Ciz momentarily.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Ciz stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Khasbulaev swivels though and keeps the full guard.

No joy there for Khasbulaev, who threw a few shots but didn't land.

Oooooooooooh, not good. A low kick from Khasbulaev lands where it shouldn't have, right in the... well, you know what he did? He kicked him in the penis. He's injured, injured bad. The referee sends both fighters to their corners and Ciz has 5 minutes to recover. He's OK now though... a thumbs up from Ciz and we're back underway with a touch of gloves.

Well, he's not going to score with shots like that. A lazy body kick attempt from Ciz.

Khasbulaev tries to close the distance and clinch up but Ciz swats him away and circles back towards the center.

Khasbulaev wants to get up but he can't break Ciz's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.
Khasbulaev is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Ciz can do to turn this around?

Ciz wants to sweep here but Khasbulaev controlling him for the moment.
Ciz lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard.

Ciz seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.

Khasbulaev manages to wriggle out and sneak his way back up to his feet, so the fighters are now clinched up against the cage.

Ciz is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Khasbulaev pulls him back up using the underhooks.

Ciz has Khasbulaev pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Khasbulaev manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing.
Magomedrasul Khasbulaev has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of George Ciz.

Well I reckon that's a shut out for Khasbulaev, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
