The judges for this bout are Ryoma Takatsuka, Paul Gruel and Micheangelo Fripello.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
York takes a kick to the side of the head.
It looks like Shon York has been cut.
Jose Machado seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Machado clinches up with York and pushes him back against the cage.
Machado pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Machado closes the distance and clinches.
York breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Machado closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Machado lands in his opponent's guard.

Machado feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Machado is figuring out what he wants to do next.
York is holding on to half guard well.
The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.
Machado closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. York did well to prevent Machado getting side control.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Machado fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. York sprawls well initially but Machado persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
York scrambles, trying to get to his feet, but Machado manages to mount him!

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Machado jumps to the side looking to secure the arm triangle…. Ooooh, that looks tight… York is gargling but he's managed to escape! Nice work there by York and Machado has given up the dominant position trying to land that submission.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Well Machado has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
