Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Hal Curtis (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Darko Panic (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Hal Curtis has a significant reach advantage - let's see if he can make it count.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Hal Curtis!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Darko Panic!
The judges for this bout are Micheangelo Fripello, Paul Gruel and Jeff Smith.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Panic has taken the fight to the clinch.

Panic turns his hips and lands a very nice judo throw into side control!

Panic working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.
Panic is looking to take a break and control but Curtis is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Curtis struggling a bit here.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Panic trying to control the position but Curtis is working away.
Panic cracks Curtis with an elbow. That is naaassty.

Panic wants to lay and pray for a moment but Curtis keeps working.
Curtis sneaks back into half guard.
Panic wants to pass the guard but Curtis is defending well.
Panic tries to stand but his arm is trapped.
Panic not landing any meaningful shots this time.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Curtis is looking to improve his position.
Panic trying to control the pace.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Panic trying to control from Curtis's half guard. Curtis has other ideas though and has regained full guard.
Curtis wants to hit a switch here but Panic passes into full mount! Oh no, disaster for Curtis there!
Panic avoids the attempt from Curtis to control.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Panic moves into side control, trying to work for a kimura. That looks painful! Will he finish!!?? No, Curtis has worked his arm free - good work by Curtis!
Curtis is working hard to escape and get back to his feet. After a battle for position, Panic asserts his dominance and retains side control.

Panic is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Curtis has escaped the position, nice work there.
Panic wants to control but Curtis is keeping him busy.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.

Panic swings around for an armbar but Curtis sees it coming a mile off and turns beautifully into Panic's guard.
Curtis won't allow Panic to sweep him here.
Panic is striking from the bottom but Curtis uses the opportunity to pass into half guard.
Panic wants to get back to full guard but Curtis has passed into side control.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Panic wants to get back to his feet.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Darko Panic will probably get the nod.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!


Panic tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Darko Panic seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Panic wants to clinch up but Curtis keeps it at a distance.
Panic throws a head kick that misses.
Panic misses with a low kick.

Panic fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Curtis to the ground. Panic is now in Curtis's guard.
Curtis looking for a sweep. Not yet Curtis, not yet.
Panic postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Panic wants to get up but he can't break Curtis's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.
Curtis lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard.


Panic looking for submissions from the bottom but instead Curtis passes into half guard.

Curtis is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Panic is just riding it out for now. Curtis eventually gives up the hold.
Curtis will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Panic wants to get back to his feet.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Panic has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Curtis is working away from the top position though.

Panic makes some distance and scrambles quickly back to his feet. Nice work!
Panic gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily
and Curtis counters with a series of strikes. Panic will be more careful next time no doubt.

Curtis looking for a sweep. Not yet Curtis, not yet.

Panic is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.
Curtis bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Panic's guard.

Panic seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now.
Darko Panic has got the better of the ground game so far.
Panic is continuing to stall.
Curtis won't allow Panic to sweep him here.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Curtis wanted to stand there but Panic had control of the position.
Panic is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Curtis gets to his feet - Panic follows without any prompting.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Panic goes for a double leg but Curtis avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Curtis continues to drive forward.

Panic closes the distance and pushes Curtis back into the cage.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close second round but Darko Panic will probably get the nod - 10:9.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! This is the final round!



Panic clinches with his opponent.

Panic breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Panic tries a head kick but it misses.
Curtis throws a big counter combination but Panic scrambles out of danger and avoids any damage.
Curtis ducks under a wild hook from Panic.
Curtis is looking for a counter combo.

Curtis gets in close and instigates a clinch.
Panic dictating the pace here, as the fighters clinch against the cage.
Curtis has had enough of the clinch but Panic keeps him there for the moment.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Panic is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Curtis pulls him back up using the underhooks.

Panic has a butterfly guard looking to sweep but Curtis has passed into side control.
Panic is looking to reverse the position.
Panic takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Curtis throws a knee to the body but it doesn't do much damage.
Panic is positioning himself to get back to half guard.

Panic reaches up around Curtis's neck trying to control. But Curtis takes advantage instantly and he's locked on an arm triangle! Big trouble for Panic! Oh that looks nasty! A human being's head is not meant to turn that color! Panic is out! He's gone limp! The ref steps in to break the fighters up and Curtis celebrates the victory with the fans!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:52 of round 3, we have a winner by way of Submission (Arm Triangle). Hal Curtis!
