Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Pat Barry (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Noam Chomsky (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chomsky has chosen System Of A Down BYOB as his entrance music. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 30 - 11 - 1, fighting out of Sydney, Pat Barry!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 27 - 12 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Noam Chomsky!
The judges for this bout are Skip Squint, Ben Watson and Francis DeMontford.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Barry throws out a token jab with nothing on it.
Some wild striking there from Barry.
Chomsky tries to counter by closing the distance.
Barry pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Barry throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Chomsky.
Chomsky avoids the head kick by Barry.
Chomsky works his jab well there, keeping his opponent at a distance.
Chomsky takes a body kick right on the floating rib. Ouchie.
A head kick misses from Barry.
Chomsky throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Barry sees it coming and avoids it easily.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Barry looks to land a left hand but Chomsky moved out of range nicely.
Chomsky looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
It looked like Barry wanted to counter with a hook but didn't fully commit.

Barry lands a really nice looking cross but Chomsky seems unphased.
Barry throws a head kick but Chomsky moves out of range.
Chomsky tries to counter with a clinch but Barry shakes him off and moves away.

Chomsky takes a punch to the jaw and another one to the bread basket.
Chomsky wings a very wild body shot but it does the job and lands to the midsection.
The fighters circling - Barry throws out the jab but it was never going to land.
Chomsky let fly with a counter punch to the body but it didn't land.
Barry throws a front kick that sends Chomsky stumbling back into the cage.
Chomsky dives in for a single leg takedown but Barry sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage.
Chomsky throws a body shot but no joy.
Chomsky fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Barry avoids it really well and circles away.
Pat Barry has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Noam Chomsky.

Barry throws a head kick but Chomsky moves out of range.
Chomsky wants to counter with a clinch but Barry pushes him away.
Chomsky throws a looping overhand right but Barry ducks down to avoid it.

We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.

Chomsky lands a nice shot whilst sitting in his opponent's guard.

Barry pulls Chomsky in close to his closed guard and prevents Chomsky from doing any damage or advancing position.
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.
Chomsky engaging in some classic timewasting tactics.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Chomsky moves away from the strike by Barry.
Chomsky throws an overhand right that lands on Barry's shoulder, as Barry tries to avoid the shot.
Chomsky moves into range and lands a nice leg kick.
Barry throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Barry on the wrong end of a nice low kick. He's acting like it's no big deal but he doesn't want to take many more of those.

Pat Barry is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.

And that's the end of the fight!
That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Pat Barry.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Barry, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.

A relieved looking Pat Barry thanked the fans for their support and gave the usual line about them being amazing. They seemed to believe that he actually meant it.
Noam Chomsky was interviewed post fight and said 'If we don't believe in freedom of expression for people we despise, we don't believe in it at all.'.
