Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Dmitry Zerzhynsky (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Anatoliy Lapikov (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 28 - 28 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Dmitry Zerzhynsky!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 24 - 24 - 0, fighting out of London, Anatoliy Lapikov!
The judges for this bout are Cecil Peabody, Alan Glass and Wesley Smith.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Zerzhynsky has his takedown stuffed
and Lapikov counters with a right hand to the body.
Zerzhynsky shoots in and drives through. Lapikov sprawls well.
Despite the aggression on Lapikov's face he doesn't fully commit to the counter.
Lapikov throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
Zerzhynsky fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
A countering left hand to the body from Lapikov misses.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Dmitry Zerzhynsky. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Zerzhynsky looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Lapikov is fending him off so far but Zerzhynsky persists. Nope, Lapikov circles away and we're back to standing.
A looping hook to the body misses from Lapikov. Zerzhynsky does a little dance to reset his feet.

Zerzhynsky wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Lapikov, who protects the arm well.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Zerzhynsky wants to control but Lapikov is keeping him busy.

Lapikov stuffs the takedown.
Zerzhynsky throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Lapikov's waist but Lapikov gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Zerzhynsky off to one side.

Lapikov takes a swing at Zerzhynsky's ribcage but misses.
Zerzhynsky shoots in looking for a takedown. Lapikov tries to sprawl out of it but Zerzhynsky keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Lapikov manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.

Nice uppercut lands for Lapikov. That snapped Zerzhynsky's head back.
Zerzhynsky shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Lapikov sprawls well. Lapikov wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Zerzhynsky gets slowly back to his feet.

Zerzhynsky tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Zerzhynsky has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

Zerzhynsky goes for an armbar here - this could be all over! But no, Lapikov has escaped beautifully and is now on top in side control! Oh, that's unlucky for Zerzhynsky but great work by Lapikov.

Zerzhynsky closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Dmitry Zerzhynsky.
I think Lapikov has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
