Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Emmett Burch (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Stroke Play (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Stroke Play is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Emmett Burch! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
4 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Stroke Play! The judges for this bout are Josh West, Ryoma Takatsuka and Paul Gruel.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Play rushes Burch and presses him up against the cage. Burch really is a fat lump. A nice left hand lands by Play.
Burch's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does. Burch throws a head kick that misses. Burch showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Play.
Burch looking to throw a kick but he's pulled out of it. Burch throws a leg kick that misses. Play tries to counter with a clinch but Burch shakes him off and moves away. Burch gets tackled into the cage by Play. Play maintains the clinch. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Burch wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.
Play tries to break the clinch but Burch is controlling the position. Play decides to pull guard. We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
That's one minute gone in the round. Play controls Burch momentarily but Burch frees himself. Play striking off his back but it's not causing Burch any problems. Burch won't allow Play to sweep him here. Play is avoiding any damage by keeping wrist control. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Burch drops back looking for a leg! Play is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Play manages to kick Burch off! Burch jumps back into Play's guard. Burch passes into half guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless. Burch is trying to work for a kimura but Play is defending well.

Play throws a strike from the bottom that misses.

Play is looking for a sweep. Burch is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position. Burch is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Play is just riding it out for now. Burch eventually gives up the hold. Play trying to hold on to Burch's head to control him but Burch postures up.
The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Play misses with a body shot.
Burch throws a body kick but he wasn't in range. Play gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here. Play lands a hook to the side of the head. Burch is trying to pull guard but Play turns him against the cage and we stay in the clinch. Burch is working on a leg, looking for a takedown but Play is defending well. Play gets a trip takedown into half guard.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Burch is not content to let Play control the position. Play trying to control the pace. Burch trying to control from the bottom.
Play trying to control from half guard but Burch is working away. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Burch is doing well to avoid being mounted. He's controlling the position at the moment. Well, if Play is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Stroke Play dominated that round. The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!
Play misses with a series of wild punches.
Burch showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Play.
Play pushes forward with a 1-2 combination that forces Burch back to the cage. Play follows up with a solid lead hook to the liver. Play throws out a powerful jab. Burch gets a takedown into half guard. Burch throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man. Burch is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Play has managed to free his arm - good work.
That's one minute gone in the round. Play pushes Burch off and gets back to his feet. Play moves into the clinch. Burch is struggling to control the position. Play holding his opponent close, against the cage.
Burch breaks from the clinch.
Play bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Burch trying his best to control but Play has mounted him. Burch slips a leg in and gets back to half guard. Play throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage. Burch is trying to control but can't.
Burch is holding on to half guard well. This has been an exciting period of action! Burch trying to control here.
Play seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Burch does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back. Burch is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though. It looks like Play is going to stand back up.
Play is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Burch is looking to escape. Burch is looking to control Play's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Burch avoid being mounted?
The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity. Play shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Burch napping and manages to drive through into side control! Burch manages to get one leg in to regain half guard. Play is thwarting Burch's attempts to control the position. Burch has his hands clasped together around Play's back. He's all about the action. Burch might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Play is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen. Play seems to be working for a kimura but Burch defends the submission attempt. Burch gets full guard. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Burch wants to sweep but no luck. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Stroke Play showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. Ladies and gentlemen, this is the final round!

Play tries a counter takedown but it's more of a dummy move, and he uses it to push himself away. Burch tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion. Burch doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body. Play misses with a double jab.
Burch shoots in but doesn't get the takedown enabling Play to counter with a crisp jab. Play throws a right and a left that Burch avoids nicely. Jab, cross, leg kick. Nice combination by Play!
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Play swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Play has been the more effective fighter overall so far. Play lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Burch circles away quickly and effectively. Burch appears to be looking for a big counter. Play closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Burch to the mat! Burch manages to get full guard. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Burch wants to get back to his feet but Play is in a dominant position and won't allow it. Play takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
That's one minute gone in the round. Burch is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
Burch is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
Burch seems to be looking for submissions.
The fighters are battling for position here. Play manages to regain full guard. Nice work. Play is trying to keep Burch in close.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Play is looking to stand up but Burch isn't so interested in that idea. Burch postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect. It's a sloppy attempt though and Burch jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position. Play not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.

That's three minutes gone in the round. Play manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Burch manages to get himself to full guard.

Burch controlling Play's posture. Play is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long. Burch looking to hit a scissor sweep but Play is one step ahead there.
The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action. Burch takes a punch to the jaw and another one to the bread basket. Play misses with a series of wild punches.
Play closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Burch looks like he's trying to stand up.
And that's the end of the fight! Stroke Play comfortably won the final round on my scorecard. Well Play has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
