Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
5 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Thiago Meida! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Yef Yew! The judges for this bout are Matheus Silva, Daniel Cesar and Felipe Paraventi.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Yew scores with a body shot.
Yew swings wildly with a hook that is half blocked by Meida.
It looks like Thiago Meida has been cut. Yew has Meida up against the cage in a clinch.
Yew lands a hook to the side of the head. Meida fails to pull guard.
Yew lands an uppercut. Meida jumps guard but Yew turns him against the cage and keeps the fight standing. Meida is trying to pull guard but being pressed up against the cage enables Yew to keep the fight standing. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Thiago Meida. That's going to take a lot out of him. A frustrated look appears on Meida's face as he tries to break the clinch. Yew throws a blind hook that connects with the side of Meidas head. Meida tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Yew smiles and moves away.
Meida ducks right into an uppercut from Yew. Meida tries to move into range but Yew moves to the side and lands with a nice right hand. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Yew scores with a sloppy right hand. Meida should have avoided that one. Yew gets a clinch. Yew works on Meida's body with a couple of short punches. Yew scores with a nice hook to the head.
That's one minute gone in the round. With the fighters clinched against the cage, Yew creates a bit of distance for himself and scores with a nice uppercut. Meida tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Yew just stands there and leans against the cage. Meida tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Yew smiles and moves away.
Meida takes one to the chin there. Yew drops Meida with a big left hand! Meida is injured, injured bad! Yew jumps in and finished him with strikes! The fight is over!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:26 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Yef Yew! A less than humble Yef Yew misjudged his post fight interview somewhat and came across a little too arrogant whilst trying to hype up his own abilities.
