Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Greg Hue (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Drake Johnson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Greg Hue!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Drake Johnson!
The judges for this bout are Timothy Bukovac, Jack Bonds and Don Winkell.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Johnson shoots for a takedown but Hue saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Johnson shoots in but no luck this time.
Hue half commits to a counter takedown before pushing away, out of range.
Johnson shoots in but Hue avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Greg Hue has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Drake Johnson.

Johnson shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Hue is trying to defend but Johnson finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.
Johnson thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Hue tries to get to full guard but Johnson has control of the leg.
Hue might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

Johnson is working for a kimura but Hue is defending it quite comfortably.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Johnson is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Hue has managed to free his arm - good work.
Johnson working to pass to mount. He's got his hand pressing down on Hue's thigh. Hue counters though and makes it back to full guard.
Johnson must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
Hue is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Johnson is working Hue over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes.

The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.

Hue has control of Johnson's left arm, preventing Johnson from doing any damage.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
Hue circles away from the clinch attempt.
Hue drops down looking for a counter takedown but Johnson sprawls and moves away.
Hue throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Johnson shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Hue as he avoids it easily.
Hue fires out a quick counter leg kick but Johnson just manages to avoid it.

Hue feints and as Johnson raises his hands in defense, Hue changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.

Hue loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.
Hue postures up in Johnson's guard and throws a big left but Johnson blocks it.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Johnson is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Hue controls from within his opponent's guard.

Johnson has an active guard here but Hue has managed to pass into half guard.
Hue misses with a head shot. Johnson uses the momentum to regain guard.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Hue is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Greg Hue will probably get the nod.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.


Johnson changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Hue tries to avoid it but Johnson manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Hue to the ground. Hue escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Johnson shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Hue sprawls well. Hue wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Johnson gets slowly back to his feet.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Johnson got a little sloppy there for a moment and Hue has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Johnson has managed to get both his arms back between Hue's legs - danger averted.
Drake Johnson has got the better of the ground game so far.

Hue looks to be working for a triangle here. Oh, it looks like he might have it! Johnson has picked Hue up and slammed him! Hue can't keep hold of the triangle and Johnson manages to pass to side control!
Hue stops Johnson from passing to mount.

Johnson wants to control but Hue is keeping him busy.
Hue is looking to reverse the position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Johnson is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Hue has escaped the position, nice work there.
Hue dodges the ground and pound from Johnson.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Johnson wants to stand but Hue has his arm trapped.
You can see the frustration on Hue's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
Hue manages to get back to half guard.
Johnson is working hard to pass the guard. He's done it - he's now in full mount! Trouble for Hue!

Johnson is standing up out of mount! Strange tactic there - he must really want this one on the feet!
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Johnson shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Johnson was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
Hue wants to control but Johnson postures up.

Johnson scores with a couple of nice shots to the head there. The referee takes a look at Hue to see if he's OK.

Johnson is looking to take a break and control but Hue is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Johnson throws an elbow but Hue slips to the side and avoids it well.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.

Johnson wants to lay and pray for a moment but Hue keeps working.
Johnson in side control, trying to ground and pound but not landing this time.

Johnson decides to stand back up.
Johnson goes for a double leg but Hue avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Hue continues to drive forward.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Drake Johnson showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. This is the final round!


Horrible takedown attempt by Johnson or perhaps it was just good defense by Hue, which made it look bad.
Johnson throws a front kick that sends Hue stumbling back into the cage.

Hue looked to counter that last move with a leg kick but didn't pull the trigger.

Johnson takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Hue not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.
Johnson looking for a sweep. Not yet Johnson, not yet.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.
Johnson is controlling Hue's posture.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Johnson enables Hue to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Johnson manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.

Johnson wants to get back to full guard.

Johnson working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Hue doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Hue manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Johnson is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Johnson is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Hue is controlling him.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.

Excellent takedown into side control there by Johnson.
Hue struggling a bit here.
Greg Hue has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Drake Johnson is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.

Hue tries to bench press Johnson off him but Johnson keeps the position.

And that's the end of the fight!
That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Greg Hue.
I think Hue has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
