PBP Commentary |
Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Nick Sarette (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and John Tucker (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Sarette comes to the cage accompanied by Crazy Train - Ozzy. We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Nick Sarette! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, John Tucker! The judges for this bout are John Kavanagh, Lou da Vinci and Bruno Lombardi.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Sarette pushes Tucker up against the cage in a clinch. Sarette prevents a body shot from Tucker. Sarette lands a good knee to the midsection. Tucker won't want to take too many of those. Tucker misses with a hook to the ribs.
Tucker is defending well against a takedown attempt. Tucker working aggressively here.
Sarette breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat. Tucker throws a body shot but no joy. Tucker misses with an uppercut. Sarette saw that one coming. Tucker tries to keep at a distance but Sarette has taken the fight into the clinch. Sarette escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Tucker throws a shot to the body.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Sarette throws a series of punches but Tucker avoids them all with ease. Sarette gets a clinch. Sarette tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Tucker smiles and moves away.
Sarette takes the fight into the clinch.
That's one minute gone in the round. Sarette lands a nice looking hook to the body, against the cage. Tucker is pressed up against the cage. Sarette has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Tucker down to the mat. Tucker avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Nick Sarette. That's going to take a lot out of him. Tucker tests Sarette's chin there with a solid looking shot. Tucker fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Sarette manages to avoid it. Sarette throws a big counter combination but Tucker scrambles out of danger and avoids any damage. A swing and a miss from Tucker. Sarette lands with a kick to the ribs.
Tucker looks winded! Sarette will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Sarette walks into a jab. Tucker swings away with a body shot that misses
and Sarette counters with a stiff right hand. Tucker keeps the fight on the outside. Tucker throws a looping overhand right but Sarette ducks down to avoid it. John Tucker seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Tucker jabs. That one connects to the head of his opponent.
Tucker throws out a loose jab but Sarette uses good head movement to avoid it. Tucker keeps the fight on the outside. Tucker lets it all go there with a big combo counter but none of the punches connected. Sarette lands a jab followed by a nice looking cross.
It looks like John Tucker has been cut. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Tucker rushes in with a sloppy looking punch
and Sarette moves into the clinch. Sarette lands an elbow inside. Sarette breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Good shot there by Tucker. Sarette throws a series of punches but Tucker moves out of range. Tucker tries to bum rush Sarette with a series of wild strikes but Sarette uses good footwork to avoid the assault. Sarette and Tucker are patiently standing in front of each other looking for an opening. Sarette throws a head kick. It's landed, knocking Tucker into next week! Ooooh that was huge! Sarette knows it - he's on the cage flexing is biceps. That's a bit weird considering he won by kick but whatever.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:49 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Head Kick). Nick Sarette! A very excited looking Nick Sarette made sure he remembered to thank all the fans both in the arena and on the internet. He said all the coolest people spend all day on MMA websites, which got a big reaction.
