Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Wendell Finley (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and George Havvik (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Rumors backstage are that the fighters have been paid to keep it standing but we know that would never happen in MMA!

4 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, George Havvik! The judges for this bout are Daniel Franklin, Tiny Johnson and Cecil Peabody.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Havvik darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard. Finley is trying to stand.
Havvik is working for a kimura but Finley is defending it quite comfortably.
Havvik thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Finley's head. Havvik is looking for a kimura here.
Havvik has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan. Havvik has one of Finley's arms on lockdown, trying to prevent him from doing any damage. Havvik struggling a bit here. Havvik is looking to reverse the position. Finley manages to wriggle out and sneak his way back up to his feet, so the fighters are now clinched up against the cage.

Finley wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Havvik has him pressed against the cage. Finley breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat. Finley gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard. Havvik trying to control but Finley is working from the bottom. Havvik loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry. Havvik wants to control from the top but Finley keeps moving. Havvik stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Finley swivels though and keeps the full guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Havvik takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired. Finley keeping moving, preventing Havvik from controlling successfully. Havvik is in a good position here but he's just trying to control... And he's not even managing to do that successfully.
The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity. Havvik manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Finley on his heels. He'll look to pass Finley's guard now, I'm sure. Finley wants to stand but Havvik is controlling the position. Wendell Finley overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. Havvik slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.

And that's the end of the fight! That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Wendell Finley. Well Finley has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win...
