Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Emmett Burch (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Zaky Umary (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). This should be a great matchup!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Emmett Burch!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Zaky Umary!
The judges for this bout are Josh West, Jeff Smith and Micheangelo Fripello.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Umary gets a takedown into half guard.
Burch controlling the position for now.

Umary seems to be trying to get a kimura but instead Burch has recovered full guard.
Umary won't allow Burch to sweep him here.
Burch trying to control the position.
Umary looking to pass the guard.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Umary postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
Burch keeping moving, preventing Umary from controlling successfully.
Umary stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Burch swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Umary passes Burch's right leg, so he's now in half guard.
Burch looks like he's trying to stand up.
Burch is looking to improve his position.
Burch gets back to full guard.
Burch is looking to stand up but Umary isn't so interested in that idea.
Burch manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Umary manages to get himself to full guard.

Umary seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now.
Burch throws a strike but Umary rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.

Umary is fighting to break Burch's control of his arms but Burch is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.
Burch wants to stand and escape but Umary is having none of it.

Burch is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Umary wants to pass the guard but Burch is keeping the position.
Burch tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Burch is avoiding any damage by keeping wrist control.
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.

Umary trying to control but Burch is working from the bottom.
Burch pulls Umary in close to his closed guard and prevents Umary from doing any damage or advancing position.

Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!



Umary fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Burch to the ground. Umary is now in Burch's guard.
Burch looking to control.

Umary stands up from Burch's guard - Umary perhaps looking for a knockout.

Umary shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Burch is trying to defend but Umary finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.
Burch keeping control of the leg, stopping his opponent passing to mount.

Burch wants to control but Umary is keeping busy.
Umary has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

Burch is in a bad position, trying to hold on for dear life but he is really struggling to maintain any sort of control.
Umary is looking to pass Burch's guard but actually Burch recovers to full guard.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Umary trying to pass the guard. He's being very persistent here but Burch manages to land a sweep and now he's on top!

Burch working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.

Umary throws his legs up looking to secure a triangle. Oh, that looks pretty tight, I gotta say! Burch escapes and throws Umary's legs to the side, diving into side control!
Burch creates a bit of distance and throws down some hard shots.
Umary tries to improve position but can't.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Burch working the head and body with strikes.

Burch is trying to get an arm triangle but Umary is defending well.

Burch is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Umary has escaped the position, nice work there.

Burch is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Umary knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Umary can't do much from the bottom here.

Burch wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Umary, who protects the arm well.
Burch creates a bit of distance and throws down some hard shots.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Emmett Burch dominated that second round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. This is the final round!



Umary closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Burch did well to prevent Umary getting side control.
Burch keeping hold of Umary's head, controlling as best he can.
Burch gets back to full guard.
Burch wants to get back to his feet but Umary is in a dominant position and won't allow it.
Umary sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Burch's guard.

Umary keeping composed on the top, looking to control the action.
Umary takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Umary is keen to just control but Burch is a slippery customer.

Umary looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.

Umary tries to pass to full mount but Burch defends it.
Burch is looking to escape.
Burch is trying to control but can't.
Burch avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Umary.

Umary is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Burch doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Umary.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Umary tries to pass the half guard into mount. Burch knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.
If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.
Burch wants to control but Umary is keeping busy.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.

Burch looking to score a takedown here. Umary is defending well but Burch drives through and ends up in Umary's guard.
Burch works over Umary with some ground and pound from guard.
Burch has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.
Burch postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head.

Burch thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.

Umary is trying to keep Burch in close.

Burch drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Burch jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
Burch postures up and lands a big shot to Umary's brow.

Umary looking for submissions from the bottom but instead Burch passes into half guard.
Umary on the receiving end of some nice ground and pound.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.

Burch is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.
Umary is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

Burch is trying to work for a kimura but Umary is defending well.

And that's the end of the fight!
Emmett Burch showed his dominance in that final round.
Well Burch has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
