Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Sergei Mironov (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Mats Thoreson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Mironov comes to the cage accompanied by Down by Law - by Madball. Mats Thoreson has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 20 - 12 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Sergei Mironov!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 10 - 10 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Mats Thoreson!
The judges for this bout are Timothy Bukovac, Don Winkell and Frank Antenori.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Thoreson scores with a takedown into Mironov's guard.

Mironov wants to pass to mount but Thoreson is defending the position.
Mironov looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.
Thoreson blocking the ground and pound attempt from Mironov.

Mironov is trying to work for a kimura but Thoreson is defending well.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Mironov wants to free his trapped foot but Thoreson is holding on for dear life with his legs.
Mironov prevents Thoreson from improving his position.
Mironov wants to take a breather but Thoreson is having none of it.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Mironov working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.

The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Mironov connects with a nice short shot to Thoreson's temple.

Mironov gets caught napping as Thoreson dives in and scores a takedown. Mironov manages to retain guard.

Thoreson uses his free foot to push down on Mironov's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Mironov.
Mironov wants to control but Thoreson is having none of it.

That was a close second round but I would say that Sergei Mironov will probably get the nod.

As Thoreson looks to move away, Mironov throws a big counter combo but Thoreson just gets out of the way.
Thoreson shoots in looking for a takedown. Mironov tries to sprawl out of it but Thoreson keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Mironov manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
As Thoreson tries to get set, Mironov tries to push him back and clinch up but Thoreson manages to avoid the attempt.

Thoreson jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Mironov walks away with a smile on his face. Thoreson gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Sergei Mironov.
I think Mironov has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
