The bell rings for round one and we are underway! A telegraphed takedown attempt from Cojuangco is defended easily by Amsterdam. Amsterdam scores with the left hand. Cojuangco knows he should have avoided that one. Amsterdam stuffs the takedown. Nice shot lands for Amsterdam. Nice takedown defense from Amsterdam. No joy for Cojuangco on that attempt. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Tony Boy Cojuangco. That's going to take a lot out of him. Cojuangco throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Amsterdam's waist but Amsterdam gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Cojuangco off to one side. Amsterdam lands an overhand left. A wild punch that just about connected. Amsterdam looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights. Amsterdam lands with an overhand left. No luck with that takedown attempt from Cojuangco. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Amsterdam lands an overhand right. Cojuangco shoots in and drives through. Amsterdam sprawls well. Amsterdam listening to his corner there, landing a nice uppercut. No luck with that takedown attempt from Cojuangco. Amsterdam looked like he wanted to counter with a punch but didn't throw it.
That's one minute gone in the round. Cojuangco shoots in looking for a takedown. Amsterdam tries to sprawl out of it but Cojuangco keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Amsterdam manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing. Cojuangco is breathing heavily. Amsterdam with a hook. Good shot there by Amsterdam. Hilo Amsterdam is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. Cojuangco moves his head to the side to avoid a jab but walks straight into a cross. Cojuangco gets cracked with a nice right hand there by Amsterdam. Amsterdam catches Cojuangco with a nice straight right. He seems pissed - ooooh, it's on now! On like donkey kong! Amsterdam's jab looks to have found its range, popping Cojuangco under the eye. Cojuangco on the wrong end of a decent looking cross there.
Cojuangco is rocked! Good exchange - Amsterdam coming out on top. Oh Cojuangco is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!! Cojuangco walks straight into a right hand from Amsterdam - that's dropped him! Amsterdam jumps into mount and starts pounding away - can he finish?! More strikes go undefended and the referee has to dive in to save Cojuangco from any more punishment! Cojuangco complains about the stoppage but falls over as he tries to stand back up, so it was clearly a good stoppage.
