Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Kyle Carp! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Marcelinho Paulista! The judges for this bout are Eddie Farnsworth, Reed Andrews and Chad Campbell.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Carp shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat. Carp is pushing down on Paulista's leg trying to pass to half guard. Paulista is fighting to maintain full guard but Carp has managed to sneak the leg through. Carp is looking for a kimura here.
Carp wants to work for an arm triangle but Paulista is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
Carp is trying to control. Paulista wants to improve his position but can't escape this time. Carp seems to be working for a kimura but Paulista defends the submission attempt. Carp moves into full mount! Paulista won't be happy about that! The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Carp prevents Paulista from getting the reversal.

Carp working to secure an arm triangle but it's not happening for him just yet. Carp looking for an armbar but decides to keep the dominant position instead.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Paulista wants to control but Carp is having none of it. Carp has hold of Paulista's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Paulista manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.
This has been an exciting period of action!
The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now. Carp wants to finish this one by submission but Paulista is holding onto his waist, trying to prevent any attacks from Carp. Paulista is trying desperately to improve position. Carp is in full mount, looking to secure a guillotine but Paulista is surviving well by controlling Carp's body position as best he can. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Paulista tries to hold on but Carp pushes him away.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Paulista can't escape the position.
Carp has hold of an arm here, looking to extend it. He's committed to the armbar attempt here! Will he get it?! Yes! Paulista is forced to tap!
