Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Roger Johnson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Daniel Holmes (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Well, the cameraman is lingering on a pretty young lady for a bit too long there. Keep your eyes on the prize buddy or you'll miss the fighter intros!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
4 - 3 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Roger Johnson! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 3 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Daniel Holmes! The judges for this bout are Winston Alpacca, Dirk Anderson and Sandra Marshall.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Johnson is looking to clinch. Johnson dives in and grabs Holmes's left leg, looking for a takedown. Holmes pushes down on Johnson's head and hops out. Johnson gets caught napping as Holmes dives in and scores a takedown. Johnson manages to retain guard. Holmes trying to control but Johnson is working from the bottom. Holmes must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu. Holmes looking to sit in guard and control but Johnson gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
Holmes has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Johnson can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself. Holmes working for submissions but it's allowed Johnson to get to half guard.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Johnson working over Holmes with some ground and pound. Holmes looks like he wants out of this position, which is understandable. Holmes is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Johnson pulls his head out easily. Holmes has been taking part in the yoga sessions down at Cozad The Island. Presumably he's going to look for a slick submission... Or maybe he's looking to avoid one.
That's one minute gone in the round. Holmes looking for submissions off his back. Johnson thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Holmes's head. Johnson decides to stand and escape the position. Holmes has taken the fight to the clinch.

Johnson has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. Holmes trying to control but Johnson is working from the bottom. Holmes gets to his feet. Johnson looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!
That's two minutes gone in the round. Johnson throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle. Johnson misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Johnson tries to clinch but Holmes moves out of range. Despite the aggression on Holmes's face he doesn't fully commit to the counter. Holmes fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Johnson to the ground. Holmes is now in Johnson's guard. Johnson keeping moving, preventing Holmes from controlling successfully. Holmes in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time. Johnson trying to strike from the bottom but really, it's not the best position to be doing that from! Holmes trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Johnson keeping moving, preventing Holmes from controlling successfully. Johnson had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Holmes defends it easily.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Holmes is looking to work some ground and pound but Johnson has wrist control. Johnson working for submissions but it's allowed Holmes to get to half guard.
Johnson is pressing down on Holmes's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Holmes stands up and waves to Johnson to follow him. Holmes shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Johnson as he jumps to the side. Holmes tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Johnson defends well and Holmes ends up having to push Johnson into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch. Johnson half committed to a counter leg kick. Johnson tries to close the distance and clinch but Holmes swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away. Johnson stuffs the takedown attempt from Holmes. Holmes gets slowly back to his feet. Roger Johnson has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Daniel Holmes. Holmes looks winded!
That's four minutes gone in the round. Johnson stuffs the takedown. Johnson shoots for a double leg takedown but Holmes sprawls well. He's pushed Johnson's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily. Holmes looked like he wanted to counter with a punch but didn't throw it. Johnson gets a clinch. Holmes holding his opponent close, against the cage.

Holmes gets the body lock takedown. After a quick scramble, Johnson regains guard.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Johnson working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Holmes doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Oh but Johnson is tightening it up a little... Holmes has to be careful here... He's got his foot tucked under now, this looks tight! Holmes reacted too slowly and this one could be over in a matter of seconds! YES! Holmes taps out! Nice BJJ there by Johnson!
