Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

The judges for this bout are Don Winkell, Timothy Bukovac and Frank Antenori.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Martinez throws a series of punches but Pate moves out of range.
Martinez throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped
and Pate holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.
Pate is pushing Martinez up against the cage, for a bit of lean and pray action. Action being used the in the loosest possible sense of the word.
Pate escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Martinez throws a lazy uppercut
and Pate counters with a two punch combo.
Martinez has Pate up against the cage in a clinch.
Pate has Martinez pressed up against the cage. He's trying to work for a single leg takedown. Pate pulls back from the cage and twists to the side, sending Martinez tumbling to the mat - Pate dives into Martinez's guard.
Pate with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal.
Pate has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Martinez looking for a sweep. Not yet Martinez, not yet.
Martinez really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Pate. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Pate working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Martinez's head.

Pate keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Martinez's head.
Martinez bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Pate's guard.
Martinez throws a strike but Pate rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.
Pate with a nice head shot there.
Martinez tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Pate works over Martinez with some ground and pound from guard.

Martinez has a butterfly guard looking to sweep but Pate has passed into side control.
Pate creates a bit of distance and throws down some hard shots.
Pate lands some shots froms side control.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Pate in side control lands a decent elbow.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Martinez is looking to regain half guard here but Pate keeps moving and retains side control.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Pate cracks Martinez with an elbow. That is naaassty.

Pate working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.

Martinez is trying to work for a sweep but Pate has mounted him!
Pate lands a heavy elbow.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Martinez is looking to improve his position but Pate isn't that keen on the idea.

Pate lands a couple of nice shots there from mount.
Martinez is bucking up trying to escape but Pate cracks him with another couple of good strikes.
Pate cracks Martinez with a nasty head shot there - the crowd let out an audible gasp there, as the noise reverberated around the arena.
Pate with shots to the head and body - Martinez looks very uncomfortable down there.
Martinez tries to reverse the position but Pate maintains control.

Pate is still in mount, landing shots to his trapped opponent. Martinez can't stay in a position like this for much longer.

Pate is dominating on the ground here - he's now on his opponent's back, looking to sink in the hooks. Martinez is in real trouble.
Martinez is trying to break free.
Martinez is trying to defend against the choke here but Pate has an arm under his chin. This one might not last much longer. Pate Tightens the hold and Martinez taps out furiously! Pate displays superior BJJ to win the fight.
